Rifle Scopes Bushnell Match Pro ED 3-18 & other budget scopes

Good info, thank you! I will consider the new Gen3 👍, would you think the Cronus is worth the money over the Ares?

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Match Pro ED 3-18 & other budget scopes

Any idea what may be going on there? That's a big one to consider. Thank you

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Match Pro ED 3-18 & other budget scopes

Interesting, what specifically do you feel Bushnell's short comings are? I ask because I have always liked the DMR line. I used to keep a DMR in the safe for if or when one of my 5-25 PMII or ATACR would go down or as a backup. I never felt like I needed more than the DMR. That was directly...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Match Pro ED 3-18 & other budget scopes

I was thinking the 3-18 would have a bit better optics and eyebox vs the 5-30, that is the only reason I was considering it over the 5-30. But if the 5-30 is good I'll just go that way.

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Match Pro ED 3-18 & other budget scopes

Hey guys, how is the eyebox on these scopes? Touchy at the higher magnification or pretty good? For the 5-30 how is it at like 20-25 power? I'm not too concerned about over 25X as I usually don't shoot there. Does the optical quality drop off at the top end on the 5-30?

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Match Pro ED 3-18 & other budget scopes

I have been interested in picking one up to try out. For the money vs features it looks pretty good, but I can’t find any real world reviews from people who own them. Curious how they stack up against the 5-30 variant, or similarly (to slightly more expensive) priced scopes such as the Athlon...

TRG appreciation thread - Part III

Having owned 3 or 4 TRGs with factory barrels, and replaced 2 with Bartlein, one with a Broughton, and another with a Rock Creek I can say with certainty the factory barrels did not shoot any better or last any longer (I had 1 TRG22 26” 308 that dropped velocity and started having flyers at 4000...

    Firearms Sig Sauer SSG-3000 7.62x51 (Imported, pre-SIGUSA).

Very underrated rifle! I have owned a few and they do not disappoint.

    barrel twist/long range

I must have missed how far right your POI is at 100 yards, definitely not spin drift moving it 1” or more. A tenth or two of a MIL, yes possibly but not around 1/2 mil.

    DeLane Development Group Rimfire Ventures

If you never measured the headspace before & the index line still lines back up then most likely it was like that from day 1. In less you see signs of wear on the bolt lugs or action locking lug abutments.

Talk me out of an Athlon Cronus 4.5-29

I am about to buy a Cronus but I'm a little concerned / curious about the eyebox. How bad is it?

    barrel twist/long range

If it shoots then it shoots. Don’t mess with it. I was just curious…

    barrel twist/long range

    Is the whole barrel bedded?

    barrel twist/long range

It very well could be spin drift. If it’s repeatable every time you go shoot, especially at different shooting locations then it more than likely a mechanical thing (scope tracking right, how your shouldering the rifle, or spin drift). But a tall target test (not a box test) where you are able...

    barrel twist/long range

I would just completely rule this kind of stuff before looking at adjusting your data

    barrel twist/long range

Are you holding it a little canted naturally when your shooting? It can be easy to do especially if the target and / or backdrop is off plumb.

Is the scope level? Have you performed a tall target tracking test?
