    New Sig CROSS

I just spent 2 weeks with my Daughter who is a DPM for a high profile military program. I enjoy busting her chops about this. Whip out a phone, do a search and the world is supposed to stop turning.

    New Sig CROSS

Not making excuses for them but give em some time. In this three mouse click world we live in now everyone wants an answer/gratification immediately. I get it. That goes for their large wholesale accounts also. Lead times are months for advertising etc. In the current environment with a hot gun...

    New Sig CROSS

Something I've run into before. For those moving a can over from another rifle be cognizant of the fact that carbon will build up in the treads. Which may in turn set up a condition where you can't screw the can on completely. Remedy, clean the carbon out of the treads.

    New Sig CROSS

    No it's just cosmetic.

    New Sig CROSS

There will never be a 6.5 PRC bolt face. The bolt face is just the first domino to fall. Then come mags and solving feeding issues.

    Gunsmithing Damage to bore?

I've used a bore scope for over 30 years. I'm 90% of the way to understanding what I see. Then understanding what I see and how it translates to the target is very deep rabbit hole.

Seating depth testing with lower charge

I don't have a number for when the pressure starts to go back up. I'm never jumping the bullet that much unless there is no way to touch the lands.I watch the target. Might be a good question to an ammo maker that does everything in a controlled environment. It's been my experience that a...

Seating depth testing with lower charge

This process has worked for me for 40+ years. This is predicated on being able to touch the lands. I go to the range with all my loading equipment. My press is C-clamped to my loading bench and at the range it attaches to a bracket that fits in a receiver hitch. I have primed brass, a powder...

    Gunsmithing Damage to bore?

Chemicals, a brass brush, soaking time and frequent cleaning is how you manage a factory barrel. If you wait until you HAVE to clean it. It's going to take a long time. That's when people prematurely turn to extreme measures.

    My new Rem Def PSR

I've done hundreds of barrels for them. I have 30+ 308 Win barrel extensions and a few of the magnum extensions. Also several AAC brakes. I also have the original Remington chamber reamers. I'm on vacation now but I think I have a 308 Win bolt also. I have drawer full of stuff left over from...

    New Sig CROSS

It's not chamber pressure with factory ammo that can lead to broken bits here. I'm not saying this is the case here but recycling brass through many different chambers has its challenges. With that being said you want an easily replaceable weak link. I'd rather replace an extractor than tear the...

    Gunsmithing A good bedding job?

You may have problems if the bedding extends out under the barrel. That area never matches up.

Does barrel thread pitch matter ?

    Just move up to 3/4"

Does barrel thread pitch matter ?

On premium quality, after market barrels history says it doesn't matter. Common sense says in the long run bigger will win out. I often wonder why people send me brakes with 5/8-24 TPI threads for a barrel that's .900"+ in diameter.

    New Sig CROSS

Sometimes engineers out engineer themselves. There's a fine line between being tough and being brittle in heat treating parts. Sig has never run reloaded ammo through the guns.

    Gunsmithing Remage Headspace help

It takes a bit of bolt momentum to flex the extractor. Then there is resistance as the extractor knifes its way around the rim when you close the bolt. It is not a clean resistance free process.

    New Sig CROSS

No problem here. What works for the average hunter buying ammo off the shelf doesn't always work for hot rod reloaders. You know who you are. Rule #1 in my shop is don't do anything to make the phone ring. Actions with 1" diameter tenons often violate that rule with WSM's and the like. The...
