    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Yeah, I agree. I didn't post up the vid because I thought the guy is right, or that a custom chamber is needed. In fact quite the opposite. But I did think it was interesting PoV and glad it was discussed here.

Subs to Aussies - Sound off on thoughts?

Who makes the nuclear plants for the Virginias? EB and/or HII do it in-house, or is GE or some other sub contractor involved?

    Ft. Pickett, Virginia- Crisis Level

we got to vote the Dems out in a few weeks. Period.

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Yeah, I have no idea why shorter jump would be necessary on long barrels but not on short... maybe the longer barrel is whipping around more and hence showing less precision... and a possible way to 'get back' the precision is to mess with jump. I wouldn't worry about jump and barrel length...

Subs to Aussies - Sound off on thoughts?

(y)Go Huntington Ingalls!!! 308, do you think the hulls will be Virginia-class or Astute-class based? I imagine they aren't going to go all in with a Virginia Block V sized hull... that would be a massive first step, but a Block IV Virginia vs an Astute ... VLS and tubes or all tubes?

Subs to Aussies - Sound off on thoughts?

So how dangerous are these attack subs to a marine landing force? Seems to me, very. Each sub has ~35-65 weapon systems, cruise missiles and/or torpedoes, very accurate and capable of doing serious damage to a surface combatant or logistical target. The cruise missile can also hit airfields...

Subs to Aussies - Sound off on thoughts?

So we 'stole' the Aussie sub deal from the French. My perception is we are offering to share 50+yrs of nuclear propulsion secrets with them, technology/capabilities hereto only shared with the Brits. The end result will be a weapon platform with significantly enhanced lethality and...

The truth comes out about Kabul drone strike

Here is the combatant CO taking responsibility for the strike and the resulting civilian deaths. The reputation of the Pentagon is about as bad as can be right now. McKenzie, Milley, Austin appear as bad as Westmoreland, whoever the JCChair was, and McNamara.

A worthy read for the thinkers in here...

Love that picture @hankpac The American Soldier, motivated by patriotism and the buddy to his left and right, remains the finest fighting force on the planet. Any foe, state-organized or otherwise, will learn this lesson if they mistake the causes of the Afghan defeat.

A worthy read for the thinkers in here...

Great read, thanks for posting. I circulated this to some LTC and eq. friends (I don't know any Generals). Get rid of the 50 page op orders and endless Power Point presentations. Here is a great read on the underlying philosophy behind the attempt to move the US Military to Mission Command...

SPR/DMR matches: What are you running?

I'm doing a gasser precision match on my farm this fall and really looking forward to shooting small targets with these gassers. Bunch of my buddies have been building SPRs, 6ARCs, 6.5Gs, etc. so it will be fun to see what they have come up with....

SPR/DMR matches: What are you running?

I like that pad you put on the Magpul UBR (I'm a huge fan of that butt stock)... does it get in way of the charging handle at all? Looks like its clear of the pull range. I might have to add one of those to mine. thanks

Or the Ho Chi Minh trail Millions of tons of ordnance dropped on it and in the end, all that HE made very little difference.

    Weapons Store Open (in Kabul)

Does this store sell nukes and/or F15s? If not, don't worry about it, per Biden.

Choppers lifting off the embassy in Stan

The Afghan similarities with the collapse of ARVN to PAVN in South Vietnam 1975 are there: - long, multiple decades, struggle, often times guerrilla warfare, some times a cold battlefield - numerically superior ally backed by fancy kit and lots of money defeated by inferior enemy with 'crude'...

    Shoot or no shoot?

Keep in mind that you, the shooter, would probably be the one being arrested in this state. No way does Rhode Island have a 'stand your ground' rule and this is clearly outside of a person's house anyway. In this case, you, the shooter, are in a 3000 lb vehicle vs a bunch of kids on dirt...

Missing niche in the market....20X bino-rangefinder-reticle??

Leica has (or had) a very nice set of 15x binos with a decent (not Vectronix good) LRF. I have a friend with a pair. They are very good, very useful, but, and here is the problem, on the big side. Not sure what the weight or objective lens size is, but it feels heavy and large in the hands...

    Is this our future.

So the Chinese government takes kids that show promise away from their parents at a young age and put them in camps. They do nothing but practice and compete in this sport. The best (top 0.001%) emerge as Olympians. The vast majority are left with no skills and no future on the other end...
