    Rifle Scopes Lightweight...12-16x top end...sub-24oz/13" mid-range optics?...why aren't they a thing?

I’d love a 4-20 or 3-18 AMG, that rep is clueless. The AMG only having 6x on the bottom end and the accompanying 20ft FOV is what’s keeping me from buying one.

Rifle Scopes Looking for more magnification.

There are a lot of people posting in this thread with more experience and knowledge than I have, and a ton of fantastic options have been posted. Razor GII, Athalon, XRS II, etc. That said, for a hunting scope and a 2k budget I’d personally be shopping for a Vortex AMG, they can be had for 2200...

Rifle Scopes Looking for more magnification.

Go a different route. A used T5 will sell for 1100 or less in the PX, and while it’s a step up, I think you should go higher up the scope food chain.

Another thing which may be a factor, is your diopter set correctly?

    Rifle Scopes Steiner M7Xi 4-28x56

Yes, locking turrets. FOV looks good, ~29.25 feet at 100m on 4x. Hope it has a good eyebox.

    Rifle Scopes Steiner M7Xi 4-28x56

Source? Not seeing it in the promo material and it’s missing from wjm308’s chart. Be great if I missed something. I love the M5 turrets.

    Rifle Scopes Steiner M7Xi 4-28x56

I’m not seeing any mention of locking turrets so I’m assuming that’s a no go. Bummer, that’s the only thing I don’t like about my M5xi.

    Parker Hale M82/84/85/87 and C3/C3A1

One of you guys might be interested in this. M82 stock and a bunch of other stuff on EBay. $250 buy it now, I’m tempted but I need another project like a hole in the head...

Am I over cleaning my brass??

I’m just going to say this test should be run with a larger data set. To get a good comparison between the data set (sample of shots) and population (all possible shot variance within the parameters) we need a statistically valid sample data set, which is 30 shots for each. I’m not going to go...

Am I over cleaning my brass??

No worries, I think you are spot on and the ES/SD numbers tell the real story. I’d like to see the bullet/case weld idea tested, that would be interesting.

If you use Mil/Mil scope, do it right!

G1 BC on my 190gr Nosler Custom Comp is .530. My wind call is therefore for 5mph, based off my G1 BC rounded down. 0.1mil wind hold for each 100y/m a 5mph wind. 0.2mil for each 100y/m for 10mph wind, etc. Its beer math. I learned it here. Fast and spot on to 800m for my 308.

Am I over cleaning my brass??

First off, I’d say if you want to look to ES as an indicator, you’ll need 30 of each load to be statistically valid. Second, I applaud you taking the time to do this test but if those are 1” squares on that target grid then overcleaning case necks shouldn’t really be an issue you focus on right...

If you use Mil/Mil scope, do it right!

I do prefer to use meters/kilometers as most quadrangle maps in the US use UTM coordinates and I became used to it in the service. Ranges in the US are set up in yards, and many people grew up estimating range in yards while hunting so it’s habit. A ballistic app will calculate things for...

Hunting & Fishing Neck shot, how???

I think it’s a form of political correctness that needs to die. Fuck those guys. They read too many of those stupid hunting magazines that are just basically one giant advertisement, filled with articles targeted to be friendly to what they think will appeal to female hunters, using the...

Hunting & Fishing Neck shot, how???

Exactly, that’s why cheap 55gr soft points in a .222 Rem do such a great job. I learned neck shooting from my dad, who learned it from his grandpap, who fed his family poaching deer during the Great Depression. In my experience it’s mostly old timers who don’t get the jitters putting meat in...

Hunting & Fishing Neck shot, how???

Right where it hits the body, 1/3 of the way down. I’ve seen and killed more deer killed this way +headshots with a 222/223 than anything else. If you miss by more than a few inches up or down, they will usually drop and get back up. Had to do a Texas heart shot at ~20y because I did that...

Rifle Scopes Looking for scope recommendations

It could be your eyes just don’t see it, a quick google search will bring up several ‘hide threads, glass complaints were the main driver behind the glass change in the DMR Pro. My sample size of 1 has a lot of documentation.

Rifle Scopes Looking for scope recommendations

I know there’s a lot of variation between scopes that can be observed, but there are two things to be aware of with the DMR/HDMR II. 1). There’s tunneling under 4.5x and it’s significant. Not a huge deal for a bolt gun, but can be for a gas gun depending how you use it. 2). My sample had a...

Rifle Scopes Ordered: VALDADA IOR 5.8-40x56 40mm Tactical FFP, MOA/MOA

I learned something a long time ago that you clearly have not. The average gun rag/professional review means shit. American Rifleman had an article on how awesome Tactical Rifles was... This site is so awesome because we have guys like Ilya and tons of field users sharing their...

Rifle Scopes Looking for scope recommendations

For those ranges on a gas gun I’d look hard at something in the 3-15 or 5-20 range. Lots of T5xi 3-15 out there, $1100 or less in the PX. 5-20 Gen I Razor is an option at the same price. Step up in cost would be the MK5 HD if you don’t need illum, that would be my choice. The 5-20 SWFA is...
