Would you put your rifle through this!!!

Hey, I’ve done that with my RPR too! Rain got most of the mud off for me before the pic. Rusted like a MF on the drive home so I painted it.

Would you put your rifle through this!!!

Your rifle is not the Mona Lisa. I’d go shoot. If it rusts, clean it and then paint it. What good is your rifle if you can’t shoot it? A pelican case for your stuff is a good idea in case the boat overturns.

    TRASOL vs Strelok Pro

I’m looking to move up the food chain from the extremely basic free ballistics app I currently use. Looking at Strelok Pro and TRASOL, these two seem to consistently come up in ballistics app discussions. Setting aside 4DOF for now because I’m not a fan of the interface. If you have both...

Hunting & Fishing Hauling Heavy Rifles

I generally carry a heavy rifle by holding the barrel, with handguard portion of the stock on my shoulder, swap sides when needed. Sometimes I’ll sling on one shoulder when I need a break. I really dislike not having the rifle in my hands.

    Suppressed rifle lube / cleaning

Calcium sulfonate grease. $14 for 14oz on Amazon, lot of advantages over Li-base grease. Run it on ARs (bolt, cam pin, carrier rails), pistols (frame rails), etc. Stays where you put it, doesn’t blow off like oil in a DI AR, calcium sulfonate is used in food-grade greases, I did a decent...

Hunting & Fishing Electronic predator calls, suggestions?

I think e-callers lead to two mistakes. (1) overcalling. I seem to do better when I don’t just hit play. (2) starting off too loud. For me at least, I don’t fall into those ruts when using a hand caller. Squeaking a little and letting it rest for 30 sec + is money, just make sure volume is...

Sidearms & Scatterguns First pistol ever, which one??

My first pistol was a 1911. I love Sigs, P229 is my favorite. The base model railed guns are the way to go, upgrade parts as you see fit. I’d highly recommend a Glock 19 as a first pistol over anything else. You want night sights. It’s the Colt 6920 of the pistol world.

    Medium Range .223 Rifle

One other thing, FGGM is very slow in my experience, MK262 is faster and shot well for me. You should consider handloading to get the best out of the rifle that you can. I also use a giesslie ssa-e, nightforce, etc. Bet that US is nice on an AR rth1800, a tiny bit jealous.

    Medium Range .223 Rifle

This is initial load workup from this weekend. 16” BCM SS410 midlength with SAMR chamber, 73gr ELD-M and 8208xbr. Will probably chop the barrel to 14.5 since it’s usually suppressed. Seating depth test at 23.4gr is next... Handloading as opposed to factory ammo always helps. No personal...

Suppressors Done it all, AR still filthy when suppressed

I’d recommend a quality barrel with appropriate length gas system, H buffer, and grease. 14.5 middy will be my next one. It will run like a sewing machine. Ever shoot an M1A/M14? Piston in that thing is serious, same with AK. Piston in a AR is tiny, I’ve heard stories of them breaking, it’s...

Rifle Scopes Advice on very durable Optic.

Reading where? Koshkin, a legit expert, just told you what he thought, and that man knows scopes. Again, who told you that? I have not read of a single issue regarding M5 turrets, and if there’s an issue I’d like to know. I’ll gladly eat crow if I’m wrong. But there isn’t an issue with the...

Rifle Scopes Advice on very durable Optic.

Which hide vendor told you that the M-series had zero holding problems, turret issues, or ‘mushy’ turrets? M-series turrets are one thing I’ve never heard a bad thing about, I call bullshit. Only issues (in my opinion) with the M5xi is they are priced too high for the current market.

M5xi has never had turret issues. T5xi had issues initially, was taken care of.

Rifle Scopes Advice on very durable Optic.

If you have the time and inclination, I (and I’m sure the community here) would be very interested in your thoughts/opinions on the Steiner M5xi series. I don’t believe I’ve read anything of yours on them. Also, thanks for the continued high quality posts in a dumpster fire of a thread.

Only complaints I’ve ever heard about the M5xi is glass quality in the 5-25, but as anyone here will tell you, a lot of the high end glass discussion is in the users eyeball. I have a 3-15 with H59 and it has treated me well.

Rifle Scopes Advice on very durable Optic.

That entire @BangBangBlatBlat post was a joke, complete shit (except listen to koshkin) The fact some of it rang true to you should be a wake up call. Aside from the tunneling in the 5-25 PMII at low mag, S&B is pretty much the gold standard for a reason. I wouldn’t trust that reviewer. If a...

Rifle Scopes Advice on very durable Optic.

Would you use a ratchet or a Kahles in place of a framing hammer? Shit I think we know what happened to the k624i... What qualifies as “better?” A Nightforce being used on a decade of deployments?
