With that 26” Bbl I would think you could get to 2800 with an 88 using a different powder. H4895 would probably get you to the high node.

Here is my satterlee test to find pressure which I didn’t and they all look good to go. I will load five at 26.3, 26.5, and 26.7 to see if they are accurate. Here’s a photo of the eight shots at 100 yards. I am hoping the last four went into the tiny cluster we shall see with further testing. As...

Well finished my testing with the Berger 85.5’s and cfe223. I can’t get them to group at all and will try one more powder with them to see if I can get them to group. The first outing looked promising but that has been proven to be a fluke in my setup. Here are my results for the last outing...

It may be because I coat my bullets in HbN. I forgot to add that in my data I’ll edit my post.

Weather was crap but I made it out to jump test these 85.5 Bergers. I have a bunch of CFE223 so I used this for this test and wasn’t too meticulous in my charge weight as I was in a rush and would safely assume they are plus or minus a 0.1 grain. At a tenth off and also 0.050” off they shot well...

Anyone try 6.5 StaBALL yet? Looks like it might be the ticket for the heavies.

H4895 is pretty much the go to powder from what I’ve seen. Good velocity with great temp stability. I’ve worked up loads using imr4320, cfe223, R17, H414, and H4895. R17 and H414 are your velocity kings with the heavy bullets and longer barrels. Cfe223 works really well but is temp sensitive I...

If you don’t have pressure signs might try 25.1 and 25.2 to see if the groups tighten up. I will be playing with 80 eld-m’s and H4895 shortly. Found my node from 25.1 to 25.3. Now to try 0.035” jump and 0.045” jump to see if the groups tighten. All three of these five shot groups were were about...

Yep got the gauge in and started tinkering with the 95’s again. I have yet to repeat the 0.5” groups with R17 but I just scrubbed the barrel with some sweets as I put a bunch of 77 LRX’s through it caribou hunting and thought maybe I had some copper fouling. It is weird with the 95’s though with...

I’d u I’d use starting loads for R25, R22 and R17 for the reloader powders you listed. The burn rates are a little different but not too much. You would be safe starting a grain higher than the starting loads in my opinion.

No deformation at all. I am using a forester set. Both fl sizer and seating die. I can see where the bullet contacts the stem but no deformed bullet (bullet looks well supported at contact point). I’ve been using forester dies for other cartridges for a few years and really like their seating...

I think you could get to 2600 without running into pressure. I think the average loss is about 20fps per inch with the Valkyrie. I ran out of 95’s and have 500 more on the way. If they continue to hold the accuracy I was getting they will be my go to for paper and steel. I may try to see if...

I abandoned H414 as I couldn’t get the accuracy I wanted. The groups hovered right around 1”-1.25”. It produced some speed though. I had some R17 laying around and tinkered with that today. Here is my workup including H414 data. I’ve noticed my first shot after cleaning is always a little...

Roger that on the load density. I loaded up a bunch more at 28.1 grains and will test today. Cleaned the barrel and will test at 2.340” and 2.335”. Mainly testing to see if the sd will be better as I carefully seated the bullets and double checked them this morning. All loads look good with no...

I have a 50rd box of 90 smk’s and worked up a load today using cfe223. There were two flat spots in my rig as you can see at 25.3-.5 and 26.3-.5. Using bare bullets I would assume that 0.2 grains lower would yield the velocity I’m getting. The last test was 26.4 and I didn’t let them get down to...

    .224 Valkyrie

For grins I had 10, 88 eld-m’s left and loaded them up with some cfe223. Here is how it went. I’m tempted to pull my imr4320 loads and try 26.6 and 26.7 grains as the brass and primers looked great. They look much lower pressured than my imr loads and matching speed with accuracy as well. Nice...

I chambered a fired round with an 88 eld-m in the neck and got a measurement of 2.350”. I am still waiting on the darn gauge. It also shot well at 2.315” when I tested this length as well. I’ve been hearing good things about 80 eld-m’s and h4985 and hope to try this combo if I can get my hands...
