New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I use pillow cases and sheets sewn into bags as well. We usually shoot to much stuff and hunt too much to be cleaning bags all the time. I get used ones from the Youth Ranch or a thrift store. wash them up, use them, and chuck them. We usually pay under 1.00 each and many times it's closer to...
We didn't eat any. The guide said you need to chill them right away if you want to eat them. He told us that after they sat in the 90 degree sun for 1/2 hour. We were too busy shooting to care about eating one. He said they taste like chicken with a fishy after taste.
Not your normal hunting but my dad, my 2 boys and I went Iguana hunting while we were in Puerto Rico a few weeks ago. We used .22 cal PCP air rifles and probably shot 100 in 4 hours.
It probably was the same tag. We were looking for a big herd someone told us about and got into 8 or 9 and took 3 cows out of that bunch. My buddy is the one that really wanted a 1K+ kill. I let him shoot first and he missed. So I shot and killed that calf. They ran off and we went after them...
This is reaching really hard. Sure it's possible but it would be a major POS of a brake if it had that much lateral or up and down movement to cause that much drag on the sled. My sled has top and bottom rails so while the up and down can cause additional drag if it's extreme I doubt it's much...
Of course I'm biased because I make them but I test as many of my competitors brakes as I have time for as well. My testing is as unbiased as I can possibly make it. I even test with a chronograph so people know I'm not running a reduced load through my brakes to make them look better and the...
If you like Krieger there is no reason not to use one for this build. Your builder may like something else better but there is no denying Krieger's track record in all forms of precision shooting so he should have no problem building you what you want. Honestly I have great barrels from most all...
It comes down to cost per ounce. You can take my 5 port Beast brakes and turn them down for a flush fit on a Proof CF barrel and they are under 4oz. I haven't found a brake that reduces more recoil on a 300wm much less one even close to the same price. A Ti brake is nice and will weigh roughly...
I went a little overboard on the Super Beast but I was trying to make something that would work well on Cheytac type cases too. If you watch the videos from the 300wm to 338 Lapua it closes the gap on the 5 port Beast brake and I suspect up near 100grs of powder it will be better than the 5 port...
If it's close you can flat sand the back and do it yourself, not my recommended route but it works. 24tpi is .0416" per revolution or just over .010" per 90 degrees. If it's not within a few thou I would use peel washers or pay to have it timed. Most people can time a brake in 15 minutes or less...
You could also take a gunsmith rail, mill the bottom at the MOA you want with some notches to lock into the old rail, and then drill and tap your action to lock it down. That would save your existing rail but it would look a bit cheesey.
Here is the 338 Lapua test. I added weight to the counter weight of the sled so it would scale everything, including the shot without the brake, better but it bunches up the brakes too much. Next time I won't add weight. The Super Beast closed the gap quite well on the 5 port Beast. The test...
I was pretty impressed with how well the 5 port Beast brake did. I'll probably do a test soon with a 243, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 308 Win without brakes to a 300wm and 338 Lapua with brakes to see how close the magnums compare to calibers without brakes. I might have to scale down the Super Beast for...
I knew my Super Beast brake was overkill for a 300wm but it was good to see the results. I also did a 338 Lapua test and I'll post that video when I get it uploaded to my YouTube channel.

Well I finally got the newest of the litter done. It's a big SOB as you can see in the picture. On the left is a APA Fat Bastard and on the right is a T-4 Terminator. It's 1.235" diameter and 3.52" long. Weighs 7.2 ounces with 5/8x24 threads. BTW for reference a FB weighs 6.5oz and a T-4...
