New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
If you tumble your brass you need to chamfer every time. Running through the tumbler (wet or dry) rolls the edge over to the inside, causing a burr to develop. Over chamfering magnifies the issue by making the edge to thin.
I have noticed that tumbling too long will leave a burr rolled over to the inside of the case mouth. same fix, VLD chamfer tool. Just do it AFTER tumbling.
I have both. The Lab Radar pisses me off when I forget to arm it. It is not as user friendly as the MS. I miss more shots with the LR. The base is cheap and should come with the unit instead of being sold separate. Battery life sucks unless you get the separate battery pack, then it is awesome...
From my understanding there is only one reamer available. With out getting a custom reamer ground. I was not impressed enough to go through the hassle. Maybe I was misled or I misunderstood, but my point was purely informational to prevent the OP from making the same mistake I did. Then again...
From experience I personally would not recommend the PRC on a short action, unless the reamer was optimized for it. The Std .188 freebore reamer is not a good fit for a short action. I tore my short action PRC down to re-barrel 6.5 CM.
Coming from a technical/ mechanical back ground it goes completely and totally against my grain to assemble something that is not absolutely squeaky clean. Not saying I don't see the merit of not over cleaning, because it definitely carries some weight. I just couldn't do it. I wouldn't be able...
I personally have never used one. Always employed the thought that if I can not take it with me in the field then why bother. I would never even use a bench at the range. Always went prone for precision, because you can't take a bench into the field.
As I become wiser (not older just...
McDonalds straw! Make it long enough that it blocks off half of the square intake window in the dispenser tube of the CM. Keeps the tube from plugging up and dropping big globs of powder. Also manualy trickle up makes it more accurate. I trickle up to .1 before and then drop one kernal at a...
Definitely never had a problem with my 308 palma stuff. Here is a link to that process. Kinda alot of work but made nice brass.
