    338 lapua without a brake?

Re: 338 lapua without a brake? Shot my TRG42 without a brake from the bench just to "try it out." Usually shoot 50+ 250 SMK at 3000 fps from the bench or prone with the brake without an issue. I will never shoot it again without a brake...

    armalite AR-10???

Re: armalite AR-10??? Reminds me of the VHS vs. Betamax contest. Stoner-type magazines will win in the long run. When the military adopts something, it usually boosts the availability and quality of said item. Logistics matter! My 0.02...

Possible to clean inside of a rem700 bolt?

Re: Possible to clean inside of a rem700 bolt? Don't forget to clean the bolt lug area near the barrel. Sinclair International sells a nice tool that holds "dental cotton rolls" and works great to clean an area that is tough to get to without the proper tools.

    Vietnam Snipers

Re: Vietnam Snipers When I went through the 101st's sniper school in the late 80's, I used a well-used M21 with an ArTel 1 on it. The chief instructor was Joe White, who was a sniper in VN. He was a humble and religious man--he did not share many war stories with us during the training...

Black Hills 77gr OTM not in the catalog

Re: Black Hills 77gr OTM not in the catalog BLUF: OTM = HPBT Match The "open tip match" (OTM) designation is a legal description used by DOD JAG to argue for the use of these bullets in combat. The Geneva and Hague Conventions have strict prohibitions against projectiles from causing...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Entry level 1911 choices

Re: Entry level 1911 choices Entry level/cost effective option: find a used SA. My local gunshop always seem to have some great values, with pre-owned guns with very little use. A quick comparision between the SA basic model (forged/labelled with "Brazil") and the TRP+ models (marked USA)...

Why U.S. Gun Sales Are Shooting For The Moon

Re: Why U.S. Gun Sales Are Shooting For The Moon No, don't think so. Firearms sales in the U.S. are driven by a wide cross section of Americans who cherish their 2nd Amendment rights. It is not driven by cheap (mass-produced) money, artificial demand, central planning/govt "intervention" or...

Is single stage press the way to go for precision?

Re: Is single stage press the way to go for precision? Cut my teeth on a RCBS Rockchucker single stage. Found that I spent a lot of time readusting dies (to minimize run out, etc.), so went to both the Harrel's (.308 length and shorter) and Redding T-7 for 30-06 to .338 LM. Both presses...

Question for the medical guys here

Re: Question for the medical guys here Keep these sites clean and dry. Cover during the daytime for "protection." A "nonadherent" dressing is only slightly better than a dry one (2x2, 4x4), as the seepage/weeping/exudate fluid will stick and dry to them). Soaking under flowing tepid water...

    HK super 90

Re: HK super 90 Bought mine in the early 90's. Like judgedelta suggested, it can be finicky about the light "dove loads." Was told by the HK folks then that the best way to "cure" that problem is by shooting the M1 Super90 a LOT. That will break in the spring mechanism that is part of the...

    Compass Lake service rifle AR

Re: Compass Lake service rifle AR I used Frank's uppers to achieve P100 and Distinguished. Krieger 7.7 inch twist barrels. His throat is "shorter" than the USAMU and Wylde throats, and 80 Sierra Mk load out to an AOL of 2.420 about 0.010 off the lands. This seems to provide a longer...
