Official Accuracy International AT First Look

Has any forum member bought the AXMC long action in 338 Lap Mag with the 308 Win conversion kit?

Official Accuracy International AT First Look

I am hoping to purchase an AXMC when they are made with the fixed stock (due to draconian Australian firearm laws), but wanted to start with 308 Win before moving to 338 Lap Mag, as I was told to hone my marksmanship on a lower caliber before moving to the magnums. I read that the AI AX 308 Win...

    Thanks, SPUHR it is

Advanced Marksmanship Shooting from behind a barricade

What do you do with your non shooting arm and hand? Do you push up against the barricade with the magazine for support?

SPUHR or AI Picatinny Scope Mount

I’m after recommendations for a scope mount on a AI AX 308 Win for a Schmidt & Bender 3-20x50 PM. Does anybody have experiences with either mount or recommendations on what to chose?

    AIAX Barrel Lengths

It’s illegal to have a silencer in my country so I won’t be able to run my rifle that way. Cheers

    AIAX Barrel Lengths

    308. A bloke I shoot with said go the 26’’ for the extra performance and if you don’t like it cut it down. Anyone know the weight difference between the 24’’ and the 26’’?

    AIAX Barrel Lengths

Is the 24’’ or 26’’ barrel a better choice? Would the 26’’ barrel increase range & velocity much? Is it worth the extra weight?

    AIAX optional extras

Thanks SNAFU308; looks like I’ll be getting the old AIAAX model without the QA butt & cheek. I’m still waiting to hear back from the dealer. Cheers

    AIAX optional extras

I am buying brand new so I think it will probably be the new model AIAX on which the quick adjustments come standard (though I better contact the dealer). I’ll probably go the standard muzzle break to reduce recoil, is there much of a difference with or without the break?

    AIAX optional extras

Thanks for the replies. So the tactical muzzle break is only designed for use with a silencer (which are illegal in my country)? Does AI have their own Angle Cosine Indicator & Bubble Leveler? Or is there better out there? Cheers

    AIAX optional extras

I was wondering what are worthwhile or essential extras for the Accuracy International AX rifle E.g. tactical muzzle break, quick adjust butt, quick adjust cheek piece, the AI picatinny rail or dovetail scope mount etc. Also what bipod would be recommended with the AX (Atlas etc)?

Help with Choosing a Long Range Precision Rifle

From what I have read Accuracywise it seems the Tac Ops would be best. And from what I have read regarding robustnesswise it seems the AI would be best. I plan on beginning with the 308 Win (just for straightforwardness) and will move into other calibers later. Cheers

    Differences between AIAX & AIAT

Thanks redneckbmxer. I had my heart set on the AX but if it has an identical action and identical barrels I’m starting to lean towards the AT. I have just got to figure out if the price difference is worth the difference in the chassis. Also is the AT 308 Win barrel available at 26’’ (I...

    Differences between AIAX & AIAT

What's to stop someone from buying the AT & putting it in a AX chassis?

    Differences between AIAX & AIAT

Is it just the quick lock barrel change system, the side cut away magazine well and the way the stock folds? What are the advantages to the AX family that makes it cost more than the AT?

Help with Choosing a Long Range Precision Rifle

The Sako TRG is overpriced here as is pretty much every other firearm, though price is irrelevant in my decision. I don’t mind waiting, if involved with firearms in Australia it is something you get used to. RCS1278 is the Tac Ops robust enough for hunting? I will be hunting in low...

Help with Choosing a Long Range Precision Rifle

Thanks for the replies. Surgeon & GA Precision both make great rifles and were originally on my list, but I had to narrow it down as it was just too big. The AX is available here without the folding stock.

Help with Choosing a Long Range Precision Rifle

I am nearly ready to purchase my first long range precision rifle & intend on taking a buy once cry once approach. I have been shooting club guns and those of family & friends while saving. I am familiar with shooting in 5.56x45mm NATO & even a little in 7.62mm, but never shot magnums. A firearm...
