    FL and/or Neck die

I would say that about covers it. Mandrels are another step that I am willing to take. 21st Century has taken my money often. I think I said earlier that I hate money.

XBR8208 Pressure spike too fast for setup?

When I stuff 24 grains of Varget under a 75 grain (or 77 grain) bullet, I ease down on the Co-Ax's handle. Gentle cracking is a way to describe it I suppose... A little more 8208 then. For the heck of it try the restrictive mode. I'd love to be right here and you won't mind if I was.

    berger 73gr handloads (5.56)

I've used a few boxes of 1000... You'll probably have to buy a box of 1000 and split it. That, or consider that a box of 1000 is at least 10 times better than a box of 100.

    FL and/or Neck die

Ha! I'm guilty of being long winded. I wish I had the Morgan Freeman meme where he points up and says "he's not wrong" for your post.

XBR8208 Pressure spike too fast for setup?

I remember reading an article with that information. Probably written by Carmichel a long minute back. I have noticed it has, for lack of a better description, a narrow window. I have never hot rodded it to "see what it could do" like I have some other powders probably because of that article...

    berger 73gr handloads (5.56)

Yes, I keep 73 grain Bergers on hand always. Yes they tend to be very easy to find a good load. No I don't use "military type" primers or ball powder with them. You will not find the 77 grain Berger bullets to be "better" than the 73's I doubt. If I want a known accurate bullet for a .224"...

    FL and/or Neck die

A serious benchrest shooter typically will have custom sizing dies. Harrell's is a good example of a company that will make them and Forester makes a 3 die set. These dies typically will be called something like shoulder bump neck die. Harrell's will want 3 cases to measure and the last time I...

Weird marks on spent 5.56 casings

A bore scope will tell the tale most quickly. As others suggested, clean it making sure to get the chamber and try it again. Maybe I should ask if the chamber was clean before those shots, was the rifle brand new, do you have different ammunition, and do you have a bore scope to look inside?

XBR8208 Pressure spike too fast for setup?

That particular wive's tale likes to live on. I decided not to type it but glad someone did. I don't think anything is wrong with your rifle OP as it functions with other loads. I have and use the SA and SLR gas blocks (more SA than SLR though). I don't use the SA in the bleed off settings as a...

Ballistics Advantage barrels question... warranty issue approaching epic fail

I figured you were voicing your frustration and I get it. There have been more than a few times I've done something and hoped other people's experiences wouldn't happen to me too. Been lucky a few times and have been another example other times. One place I've learned the hard way to not...

Which small rifle primer consistently gets you single digit SD's in 6mm+ cartridges?

Whew, what a question. It seems this is another issue like barrel cleaning and/or barrel break in techniques. Depending on case (caliber, case volume, flash hole size are examples) I will say a CCI450 is my go to. It is my go to because my stash of Wolf SRM is finite though still large. Also...

XBR8208 Pressure spike too fast for setup?

I shoot 23-23.5 of XBR with many different 70-77 grain bullets. The shortest gas length I have is called a Carbine +1 on a Craddock 10.5"? Bartlein and all the way up to a rifle length on a Proof and 23-23.5 cycles every one of them without any hiccups even with a heavier buffer. Put some more...

    223 Wylde AR loads

I prefer a one and done type of load (yeah right). Maybe a better way to put it is I prefer specific bullet weights and done. I have always had good luck with the Hornady 75 BTHP in many AR's with the usual extruded powders. Surprisingly good luck with that bullet considering they are always...

Ballistics Advantage barrels question... warranty issue approaching epic fail

tucaz made a very good point. I don't quite get where a BA barrel can be a replacement for "over $500 barrels". That would be the C- for story flow. Just so I can better understand, you bought a couple barrels at $500 each from a vendor who stated in their advertising said barrels were the best...

    6.5 Grendel

I have modified 3 of the 6.8 PRI mags (2-10's and 1-15) and 1 223. I did it with a dremel and a cutoff wheel, a step drill to get the radius at the bottom, some time with a file, and some cratex wheels. A milling machine would be child's play (and a blessing). Depending on the lower and barrel...

    Can over gas destroy accuracy?

Carbine gas system on those, not RLGS. I believe that was what being asked about. When TTT stated "Friends don't let friends buy 16" mid gas.", I am almost positve he wouldn't let enemies buy a 16" carbine gas. Maybe I was wrong.

    Can over gas destroy accuracy?

Kinda waiting on the Criterion Hybrid RLGS 16" to come back in stock (if ever). My current 16" is an Intermediate Odin Works. Not a bad barrel at all but not a lightweight either.

Update #2..I think my can is messed up…Weird day at range

OK. FWIW, I also use the Sierra Varminteer (115 grain) but my load is 19 grains H110, CCI 400/550, and Starline. With my RAR it is accurate to 300 (farthest I shoot the RAR). That bullet has always performed well in mine. I don't think that is your problem. The heaviest "super" I use is either a...

Update #2..I think my can is messed up…Weird day at range

Kinda need more information on the loads. Both Supers and Subs. Did you fire both same day? You have only fired 50 through the rifle or 50 rounds during that session? I should mention I have one too and if anything it prefers supers but not by a large margin. I use a Nomad 30 exclusively (after...
