    10yr Review of 17.6” Lilja 6.5 Grendel

I've read where you've mentioned this barrel/rifle multiple times. I was curious why 17.6" and what was the approximate round count and now I know. Probably the biggest curiosity was what was the gas tube length. I wouldn't have guessed MLGS (-) but I didn't really consider the age of the...

    OAL Guage - Why?

No reason you can't do it that way. If you also like to know your measurements in an AR, that technique becomes more problematic. Like Baron23, I prefer a quicker route that also gives good results. I write all my data down for each rifle and check whatever bullet I may use when new (I do...

    OAL Guage - Why?

I was taking a shot in the dark of what bullets prefer a jam that you might have been referring to. VLD's can jump but jamming works every time for me. I agree completely about jumping hybrids. I can jam a hybrid and they work great but ran out of magazine length in a 6.5 Creedmoor that has an...

    OAL Guage - Why?

If you are referring to a Hornady (or Possum Hollow) OAL gauge then that is the easiest way to find "jam" in my mind. There are other tools or techniques that will do the same thing but are different (Sinclair is an example). There is a learning curve using the tools but that just my...

    6.5 Grendel

I'm waiting on the Sierra 120 TGK to become available again. I saw them listed late last year (?) and went as far to add them to my cart on Sierra's website. I waited and thought on it and they were gone. They are a long SOB though. I'm playing with the Sierra tipped BK now with 8208 and it...

    223 Ackley Improved

Without reading through again to double-check, it seems it is the Redding FL bushing die that is not bumping the shoulders? Kadams1563, I also use a Co-Ax with my Redding dies. FWIW, mine are the FL bushing sizer and micrometer seater. I bought mine second hand either on here or over on the...

Super high ES on virgin brass

A 223 can be a frustrating SOB trying to get great "numbers". I consider a sd of 10 to be pretty good. I personally don't get those numbers with virgin brass. Like another mentioned, I actually enjoy the process of reloading and my tools show it. I use a lab grade MRS scale, anneal every time...

Bolt Carrier Group impact on accuracy?

I didn't even realize there was a lawsuit until you mentioned it msgriff. I looked it up and had to scratch my knot in wonder. WTH! Nevertheless, I wouldn't get rid of my JP FMOS carriers but I also wouldn't mind having more Young Manufacturing NM carriers. Sorry for the derail OP!

Bolt Carrier Group impact on accuracy?

Is that actually in stock? I understand KE Arms bought Young Manufacturing and I haven't seen a NM BCG in a year or more. I have seen that website before but never called them to double-check.

Bolt Carrier Group impact on accuracy?

I agree with you on requiring reliability. With very good parts assembled with care and a purpose you get both. I know you know that and I am not being sarcastic. One of the higher quality carriers won't hurt your intention for your build with the exception of $$$. It's not a cheap hobby when...

Bolt Carrier Group impact on accuracy?

I just don't know the answer to your question but agree with the above mentioned replies where the barrel is a huge part. That said, I've read the articles by Joe Carlos many times and stuff from others looking for "the secret". A barrel from known accuracy companies fitted tight, good...

    REM 7 1/2 for Lapua 6.5CM?

The primer flowed back into the firing pin hole. Looked like what I described it as. I had already used Gre-Tan for at least one other bolt for the same reason (Remington Model 7 with a 6.5×47L barrel) and honestly I figured I would need to bush the Surgeon bolt from the start. I seem to...

    REM 7 1/2 for Lapua 6.5CM?

Yes on the Rem 7 1/2. You'll know right quick about the firing pin hole. My Surgeon action showed me a real nice tit on the first 6×47L round fired. Off to Gre-Tan it went. Other than a possible wait time and $$ there is no downside. The measurement Seekins gave you may be fine though.

Forster Coax with Inline Fab 4” Micro

I do use the quick change plates for both of my 4" Ultramounts. I make sure the rods have about 1/2" of space from the bench face. Obviously the primer tube has plenty of clearance too. I like the quick change plates enough that every press I own has one and I use their plate mounts to hang the...

    Little help please

I use a rod in the barrel every time when I use the Hornady/Possum Hollow tool to find jam. I have a boogered up Dewey 22 caliber jag that it cut the tip off of and made it a flat point. No harm done as a light push is all it should take.

Best 10 Round Magazine for Bench Rest - AR - 6.8 SPC

Precision Reflex Industries as stated by 346ci. I use them for my Grendels and not a 6.8 though. Fully welded SS.

Any experience with ODIN Works Barrels for a typical AR?

Very good information already. I have one Odin barrel myself but have built 5 or 6 using an Odin barrel. Mine is a 16" with intermediate length gas (Rock River receivers, Geissele Mk14 15", Triggertech, JP FMOS carrier, and a Delta Stryker HD 1-6) and from the beginning it has shot an average...

    Ruger American Ranch trigger upgrade?

I put the Timney on my 300BO RAR and didn't really consider the spring change. It is much better than the factory trigger and that's what I expected. Considering what else I've done to the RAR without any huge improvements, the $150ish was well worth it. It is a good little rifle and a lot of...

    Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

    36. No pear salad, chitlins, or coke cake. Never heard of coca cola cake, and won't eat chitlins because I've driven through a small town near me that has something they call the Chitlin Strutt while the Strutt was on going. Nope!
