Trying to figure out heavy bolt lift and my match load

I have less than 200 rounds through this barrel. That said, I clean all my rifle barrels pretty lightly. Couple of passes with wet patches couple of passes with a nylon brush, couple more wet patches until clean, dry patches until no further residue. I only strip copper when needed. That has...

Trying to figure out heavy bolt lift and my match load

I was able to test 44gr in 25 degrees, and the 43.2gr in mid 60s. I am tracking temperature variability along the way. Also, well aware of the thermal impact considerations. I’ll be shooting another test today specifically focused on bolt lift. Curious to see the results and I’ll share results...

Trying to figure out heavy bolt lift and my match load

I’ve consistently seen less than 10fps variance at all charge weights across all load development on two rifles between Lapua+BR-4 and Nosler+BR-2. Curious how this is an issue. Could you expand on this comment? -thnx

Trying to figure out heavy bolt lift and my match load

Not a feeding issue, it's an extraction issue. Headspace is good; I set it myself. Shoulders are bumped just about .002" and chamber like butter.

Trying to figure out heavy bolt lift and my match load

I've posted a few threads along the way trying to finalize my match load for what is my first custom barrel rifle. Components: Lapua brass w/ CCI BR-4 primers (300 pieces for match ammo) Nosler Brass w/ CCI BR-2 primers (200 pieces for range/test ammo) Hornady 140gr ELD bullets Hodgdon H4350...

    6.5 rate of twist

    What's your use? I run 140s at 2800fps out of a suppressed 1:8 21" . That seems to be a good BC/velocity combination.

Sig Sauer - KILO3000 BDX LASER RANGEFINDING BINOCULARS

https://rickyoungoutdoors.com/basic-ultra-light-bino-harness/ Just bought and tested one of these bino strap/harness thingies today. Spectacular addition to the 5.11 padded 6.6 pouch. Does anybody want the original harness that came with my Kilo 3000? I cannot ever see using.

    New (to me) Forster Co-Ax

Having upgraded to an Inline Fab mounting system, I’m inclined to keep my rock chucker and get a play for that. She’s loaded many thousands of rounds of good precision ammo. I’m also planning to get a decent vice since there’s a mounting plate available for that.

    New (to me) Forster Co-Ax

Crap... it’d help if I wouldn’t have deleted my quesiton before I clicked “post”. For those using this press, are there any tips or tricks worth sharing? I do notice that my RCBS collet bullet puller won’t work with this press and am looking at either the Hornady or Forster equivalent...

    New (to me) Forster Co-Ax

Just got my Inline Fabrication mounting plates and accessories for the Forster Co-Ax press bought from @Clans1971. The new (to me) press is setups and ready to use for loading my 300 pieces of match brass. Everything setup wonderfully less my RCBS bullet puller die... that’ll need to be replaced...

Narrowing down a node: .1 or .2 grain increments?

I have a tendency to preform a bit more validation, so others suggestions my vary, that said, I’ll load 10 shots at each charge and shoot two series of 5-shot groups. I’ve found that provides a far better understanding of performance and once I’ve done that, the rest of my shooting is done at...

Narrowing down a node: .1 or .2 grain increments?

Based on personal experience with 3 rifles and 4 barrels 6.5CR seems to have a node around the 42.0 mark and another around the 43.0-43.5 mark. If you think you want to mess with the 40.6 load, save yourself some money and switch to 308. As for the 42 node, load at 42 +/- .2 or .3 grains. I...

    Nucleus Light Primer Strikes

That was my feeling as well. Feels way better on the range than the bench. Also, after working through some initial issues, I’m having 100% reliable ignition using the #19 spring with a Huber Concepts trigger.

SOLD: Remington 700 5-R barreled action in 6.5CR with extras

I have myself almost talked into upgrading my scope so I'm clearing out some stuff. I'm looking to re-home my original 6.5 Creedmoor Remington 700 barreled action. It's a stock barrel/action with a Badger Ordanence 20 moa and Timney 40X flat shoe trigger. I'm asking $$$ and I'll do FFL to FFL...

Match load question; go with it or back off?

It tapers off as I lower the charge.
