    You can switch barrels w your AX. Buy another barrel in another caliber and screw it on yourself. It won't take you 15 min if you have a wrench and a vice.

    As the class is open to non members and you don't know how many will show, I understand those concerns. I was thinking I'd be more comfortable trying a 300 or a 600yd comp first but what the heck! Maybe I'll qualify before this comes around to get that out of the way.

    I like 98gr.....no surprise. Did you let the cartridges cook in the chamber? I've had velocities increase throughout a string with temp sensitive powders of they sit in an increasingly hot chamber.

    I keep mine even but long. 2.030. My chamber is 2.043.

    You might try annealing (I know your brass is newish) or look at your neck tension. I get single digit SD with Sierras and Noslers.

    There is evidence of long term barrel corrosion in some instances. I avoid it now mainly because it adds one more variable to the process and I seem to be busy enough keeping it together. I'd give it another look if a significant number of competitors were winning with it but they're not.
