New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Thanks for the input. Why is 25M parallax a "must", can someone quantify the degree of error that parallax can impart at close ranges - probably a job for our resident optics wizard, @koshkin?
Roger that, where would you steer someone for a dedicated rimfire optic, 1.5K budget? My S&B 3-20 will focus at 20m, but I'd prefer not to pull it off my match rifle if I can help it
Anyone running a Bushnell 3-12 or 4.5-18 LRHS or LRTS on a .22lr? I'm putting together a trainer and since I've got these scopes I could repurpose one of them onto the rimfire. Obviously they parallax to about 50y, so not ideal but since most of my .22 shooting will be 50m+ I'm thinking they...
Roger that. Here in Australia the XRS II was/is on sale at USD $1300 (which is just stunning value), compared to the G2 Razor which I've only ever seen at US$ 2.7K here. Interesting how market forces create completely different price points.
One of the first Surgeon actions to land in Australia back in 2006/7, Just screwed on my 5th barrel for this old girl...she's done a lot of miles since and has never missed a beat. Won a national title and put a bit of meat in the freezer with this rig... will get passed to the kids eventually...
Most interested in your general thoughts re the XRS II, I've been extremely impressed with the example I have, and I come from a background with Schmidt, NF, Premier etc. I'm somewhat surprised by how little is in circulation about the XRS II.
I tend to agree, but it's equally important that personal opinions are based on factual data, which is what I'm trying to address in my most recent posts.
Thanks @koshkin, I'm still weighing options. My most used scopes are a S&B 3-20 and a NF 4-16, but I've some time with a March 5-40 re the larger mag ranges. I do tend to prioritise FOV over absolute magnification, but I'm certainly interested in the NF 7-35, I'll try and get some time behind...
I'm wondering if @koshkin can comment here re the FOV discrepancies noted in the tables in post #84 & #83. I'm not interested in calling anyone out or anything of the sort, but I am interested in accurate data. If the NF 7-35 is a handicap for positional stuff due to FOV I'd like to know before...
@Diver160651, can you expand on the "looking through a straw" comment. I'm about to pull the trigger on a NF 7-35, but your comments about the FOV have given me pause. I'll certainly be shooting positional stuff with the NF and have magnification around 15-20x, so FOV at that mag is important to...
This is why you've got to love the Hide. People will go out of their way to produce resources (and give them away for free) that can't be found anywhere else. Outstanding work @spife7980
This is the single best post I've ever read on the hide. It completely captures the values misalignment that underpins the kinds of problems many sports/communities endure. Bravo.
