New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
It's a unmodified 20 inch tikka t3x 6.5 Creedmoor barrelled action dropped into a southfort labs carbon stock. It's one of the most accurate rifles I've ever owned and it's now taken quite a lot of game here in Australia. It weighs 7.4lb as pictured & pushes 147gr Eldm's at 2650fps
I'm also interested in the charge weight Padom is running. 38.7gr AR2208 (Varget) is my load with 130 JLK's = 2840fps from a 22' barrel. Barrel is throated for 147gr ELD's so I'm loading very long/have heaps of case capacity
The comp stocks are all too heavy for any rifle that's going to be toted long ways up steep stuff, but for day hunts or situations that don't require much mobility, they're awesome. '
This is a touch under 14lb as pictured. I could run a carbon barrel or chop the 26' down to 20 to knock some...
It's a McMillan A3 - It has the highest comb of any of their stocks which is great if you don't want the weight of an adjustable cheek-piece. The contour is the IBI Medium Hunter Profile and the total weight is 9.25lb as pictured. If this was going to be for higher volume shooting I'd opt for a...
A 6.5-284 with 156gr Berger EOL's going 2900 - 3000fps is right with a 7Rem mag and 162gr class of bullet. The 6.5 actually beats it in the wind and requires less powder and recoil to do so. The energy difference is negligible.
