Tikka T3x CTR vs. Tikka T3x Tac A1?

Those GGS stocks are looking very interesting to me. Bolt in stock. Keep the nice CTR mags.

    Tikka T3 Thread

Not aware of any GGS bipod, though am happy to be wrong.

    Tikka T3 Thread

Very interested in both of these GGS stocks. Now that you've had a chance to compare them next to one another, what are your thoughts on each? Pros and cons? Which seems more suitable for a dual steel/hunt role? Nik

    Time for a SnipersHide Build?

An SH build with left twist, gain twist would be interesting. Could be a tipping point to popularize that build philosophy.

Rifle Scopes 10x fixed effective range

This, sir, is the kind of summary I'd hoped we could arrive at. Yes, hypothetical, situational. But also some good ballpark numbers from which to form a basis of capabilities.

Rifle Scopes 10x fixed effective range

My objective is to see what basic ranges the community arrives at to serve as one piece in this puzzle called scope selection, not specifically for me, but for anyone considering a fixed power scope. There are a lot of good reasons to choose a variable, and a few good reasons to choose a fixed...

Rifle Scopes 10x fixed effective range

Lots of great responses here. I think on the high end of range, we seem to be landing on: Steel target or silhouette: 10x shines at 600 yds. Capable to 1000yds, or more depending on conditions. Harder to be precise here, though HD and S&B can help sharpen the image especially in difficult...

Rifle Scopes 10x fixed effective range

While we all can appreciate the flexibility and versatility that a variable power scope offers, I'm curious if we can (subjectively) quantify practical or "comfortable" min/max ranges of a fixed 10x scope with decent glass. This isn't intended to spark a debate on fixed vs. variable, but is...

    To skeletonize stock or not

Title of this post could probably have been better worded. What I was trying to say is that some composite stocks have a full length aluminum backbone to add rigidity, and some do not. Was curious how this feature (or lack thereof) figured into people's thinking. Does it increase rigidity? Does...

    To skeletonize stock or not

Of the stock options out there, we have some with an aluminum skeleton wrapped with composite, and then we have some that are that are fiberglass or some composite without the skeleton. For those who choose one over the other, was this a deciding factor, and why? Nik

    60 degree bolt action comparison

Hah, just get another TRG. It's not a bad thought though. They do come in Rem .260 with 20" barrel. 9.8 lbs. Scope probably an SWFA HD fixed 10x. That's 20oz. How does the Curtis compare to the TRG action? John Hancock is pretty neat too. I don't see weight listed on their site.

    60 degree bolt action comparison

Have had a Sako TRG 300 Win Mag for years, and love that action. Have a couple other rifles with a 90 degree throw, and definitely prefer the TRG. Never had a custom rifle, but have been researching options, and am looking at custom actions comparable to the TRG's. Concept is a "do all" 6.5...

    Rifle Scopes MST-100 Comeback?

There also has been discussion on bringing back the ST-10, as there apparently have been many requests for it. Would love to see that. Nik

Scope rings--When is "good enough" good enough?

Ok these are some good arguments that I can learn from. Where would a brand like TPS (which I currently have) land on design, CS, and manufacturing, and being machined as a pair? And Badgers (misspoke when I said Barrett). Nik

Scope rings--When is "good enough" good enough?

Thanks, this is a measurable differentiator. I've had Leupold,, SWFA, IOR, TPS, and Barrett rings. Never seen a ring failure in the field. Don't know what a ring failure even looks like--unless ring failure is taken to mean, "light marking of scope tube." I have dropped an 18lb rifle on a...

Scope rings--When is "good enough" good enough?

Question on scope ring quality. I've always gravitated toward the more respected brands, just because I wanted to cover all my bases, without really understanding the why (and never had a ring issue). Curious though what sets "good" scope rings apart from not so good. I've seen some threads on...

Rifle Scopes SWFA 10x42; 12x42; 16x42 & similar priced optics

SWFA fixed is solid at that price point. I'd echo favoring 10x as flexible at shorter ranges, and you can still reach out. Note: rear focus is stiff, and I much prefer side focus...but is side focus worth +$100 on a $299 scope? CAUTION: Be wary of mixing Mil reticles with MOA dials. If you look...
