    6.5x47 Lapua vs 6.5x47 USA

The current lot I'm shooting has 21 firings. They haven't all been the above mentioned load, mostly 37 grains of RL-15 with a 130 VLD. I did lose one case after the 19th firing to a split neck.

.223 trainer vs Spare Barrel & reloading components for my x47

I would definitely listen to your brother. If you look at the long-term costs of everything involved, you will probably never break even. That .223 barrel will likely need to be replaced before you can recoup your money, which puts you even further in the hole. A .22 LR makes a lot more...

    6.5x47 Lapua vs 6.5x47 USA

Demolitionman, 36.5 grains of Varget is giving me 2750 with 140 ELDM'S from a 26" Bartlein. No pressure issues and wickedly accurate. Not sure about 6.5x47 USA, curious though.

    10 Shot Ladder test validity.

Here are the results from the 10 shot chrono test. I tried 37.3 and in addition to having too much pressure which was very evident through a sticky bolt and ejector marks on the brass, the chronograph numbers were very high and accuracy was terrible, despite adjusting seating depth. So I went...

    10 Shot Ladder test validity.

This method did not work for me. The load it predicted had terrible accuracy and very high ES/SD. It also failed to show the actual node that was clearly revealed through traditional testing. However, I do think there is merit to this concept, but one shot per charge weight is insufficient...

Reloading question.....How to consistently get single digit SD

You can easily achieve single digit standard deviations with brass that has been SS tumbled and never annealed. I did it this afternoon with 6.5x47 brass on its 21st firing, never annealed, and trimmed only twice in it's life. CCI450's, Varget, and 140 ELD's. Five shots at 36.4 gave a st dev of...

Reloading question.....How to consistently get single digit SD

You can do all the prep work you want and measure to the individual kernel of powder, but if you're load is not right, it doesn't matter. To me, it sounds like you need to adjust your charge weight. Try going up and down a grain in 0.3 grain increments. See if that helps Or, you could do a...

    121gr flatline loading data

44 grains of Varget seems WAY too high for a 120 grain bullet in 6.5 Creedmoor. Maybe 44 grains of 4350 or something in that burn class. Not to piss on your parade, but that seems like damage your gun too high. I know in 6.5x47, about 39 grains would be max. other than that, I'm excited...

    6.5x47 lapua help

Do be careful with hot loads in this caliber, the brass hides pressure signs like no other caliber I've ever shot.

    6.5x47 lapua help

I think you would be fine starting at 37. I shoot the VLD's something like .060" in the lands, or .009" off a real jam. So .010" in the lands isn't going to do much to increase your pressure.

    6.5x47 lapua help

Is there a target velocity anyone is aware of for the next Accuracy node? Glad to hear Varget is working. At 37 grains that should be a sweet shooting load. As for the next higher node, in my barrel it took about 90 ft sec for the groups to tighten up again. It might be a stretch to get there...

    6.5x47 lapua help

I wouldn't worry about the low velocities, things will speed up and normalize pretty quickly. You'll really like Varget, it's perfect for the 6.5x47 and 130's.

    6.5x47 lapua help

Try Varget or RL15, 37-38 grains. I've yet to see a 6.5x47 that won't shoot 37 grains of RL15 with a 130 bullet. FWIW, your velocities seem pretty slow. Is this a new barrel? I gained about 100 ft sec after a couple hundred rounds on mine. I've used 4350 a bit and with great results. I've used...

    Gunsmithing Paint work.

That's very nice. Great colors and wonderful attention to detail, especially like where the paint seamlessly crosses onto the recoil pad. Thanks for sharing, I always enjoy your posts.

So I started AA. any pointers

Exercise really helps. Weights, jogging, dog-walking, whatever. Try to physically wear yourself out each day. It'll make a positive difference. Good Luck and good for you

    Stupid 6.5x47L Question

I say it's not necessary, because it's not necessary. If it were, the three rifles I have wouldn't shoot lights out. They also wouldn't handle high pressure loads as easily as they do. Its fine to do it, but not necessary. edit: I'm talking about Rem700's
