Length to Ogive - What's consistent enough"?

@03, First, .005" of difference is meaningless given your stated goal of weekend plinking. I've shot many thousands of the 175 smk from a .308 and you will never shoot the difference being +/-.0025 Second, there is a chance your measurements are not all exactly accurate. I've tried the tool...

Quick 140 Berger Hybrid Load - New Rifle...No Time.

You'll probably be fine. But any way you can load one or two and shoot them in your back yard, on a logging road, in a field, etc to check for pressure?

6mm Creedmoor ES help (primer problems maybe?)

This is a good summary http://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/04/18/how-much-does-sd-matter/

6mm Creedmoor ES help (primer problems maybe?)

I mentioned it in my earlier post, but start marking or segregating the pieces of brass that are giving the "crazy" results. Measure and weigh them, try find a reason, this might lead you into neck turning. ST DEV of 7 with an ES of 23 is actually pretty good and statistically accurate. I...

6mm Creedmoor ES help (primer problems maybe?)

For reference, what is the standard deviation when you are getting these ES numbers? How many rounds are you measuring? Does your charge weight need to be tweaked a couple thousandths to put in the middle of your node? Are your primers being seated to the proper depth? Are you marking the cases...

    Shoulder expansion after firing

I'd post this is the gunsmithing section, you'll get better answers. Do you have a concern though?

First go at reloading. Need advice.

From your description, I'd say you don't have any problems. Just be sure to pick one comparator and use only that one. I've spent quite a bit of time with 4064 and in every rifle, I hit pressure signs before the published max. I'd say you're right at the upper limit. Try reducing that load...

First go at reloading. Need advice.

Also my experiences. 43 grains with a 168 SMK will shoot wonderfully.

Is bedding a Mcmillian a5 necessary

I had an A5 that was never bedded. It shot so well, I never felt the need. Half moa was normal and 1/3 moa wasn't unusual. It didn't have pillars by the way. And this was a stock 5R in .308 I also have a Manners T2 that is only pillar bedded, it has shot 1/4 moa many times and is every bit as...

    Prepping new lapua?

Load and shoot. Maybe run an expander down the neck to straighten and uniform neck tension. Even straight out of the box, they'll shoot much better than moa, much better.

Primer for 6.5 Creedmoor Lapua Brass

I've been shooting 6.5x47 for years and have found very little real world difference between 450's, br4's, and 205's, match or regular. Glad you Creedmoor guys finally made it to the party though ;)

New .308 AI load development **Getting There, Updated**

Also, 42 grains looks like a scatter node.

New .308 AI load development **Getting There, Updated**

42.2, 42.4, and 42.6 all have about the same point of impact, indicating an accuracy node. I would play around with 42.4 and see what happens.

    rear bags with bunny ears

I am not a fan of Protektor type bags with bipods. Like others have said, those types of rear bags really shine when using front rests, but lack adjustability with bipods. If if you are wanting to use that style of rear bag, I'd encourage you to also get a good front rest. Something like this...

What is considered too fast for .308

I'm getting about 2640 from a 20" with 175 smk's and a max load of varget. The barrel has about 200 rounds, so might speed up. This was basically at sea level.

    What press/presses are you using?

I've become a Big fan and believer in floating dies when using the Dillon presses. But, you can make your own for a couple dollars using basic parts from Ace Hardware.

    What press/presses are you using?

A pair of Dillon 550's, a 650 with casefeeder, a RC that's about 45 years old, and a Big Boss 2. A gazillion different toolheads for just about every popular pistol caliber, and floating setups for the three heavy barrel rifle calibers I regularly shoot.
