Precision Reloads from a Dillon RL550/650?

The Whidden are shinier than the Dillon and the inside hole is wider so they don't properly fit on the Dillon toolheads stands. That's it as far as I can tell. If the tension pins are installed correctly, the dies in the Dillon have just as much wiggle as the Whidden. You can use the Whidden...

Precision Reloads from a Dillon RL550/650?

Yeah, no problem. It's actually insanely fast and makes great ammo. And once set, the Dillon powder dispenser will hit the exact weight more often than not, especially with Varget, H335, 8208xbr, etc. Even IMR 4451 did as well through the Dillon as through a standard rcbs/Redding type...

Precision Reloads from a Dillon RL550/650?

Whidden toolheads are great, but it's very easy to make your own using your existing Dillon tool heads.

Precision Reloads from a Dillon RL550/650?

Properly setup, a Dillon press can produce 1/4 moa ammo. Sizing and seating, using floating toolheads is a great route to take. As good or better than a single stage. The priming assembly can be easily modified to seat primers deep enough and is very consistent. The Dillon powder dispenser...

Anealing vs. neck tension vs. SD

That's still a very high SD, I expect 20 shot strings to be in the 6-8 range, without annealing, counting every shot, and starting from a cold bore.

Sounds like you should send your kids to private school

    Youth 243 build

I have a pre-64 model 70 featherweight in .243 and it is a pussycat to shoot. I don't have any kids, but I've let a few small framed girls shoot it and none had any issues. I load 41.5 grains of IMR 4350 behind a 95 grain Berger classic hunter. This is a middle if the road load, but very...

Anealing vs. neck tension vs. SD

Definitely other issues here. My 18 times fired, never annealed 6.5x47 brass just gave a 10 shot sd of 4. Same type of story with my Lapua .308, 6br, and 6.5 Swede brass. My my guess is your charge weight isn't optimal. I'd go up and down a grain (assuming it's safe) in probably 1/2 grain...

Rounds to achieve a reasonably certain SD in load testing

Fifteen shots has always been my go to for numbers testing.

    Imr 4451?

In 6.5x47, 41 grains of H4350 and 130 VLD's was giving me 2834 ft/sec. I did complete load work up of IMR 4451, from 40 to 42.5 grains and the best combination of accuracy and low sd's was at 41.2 grains and 2838 ft/sec

Any one have a hornady load manual? Looking for 7-08 loads using 139gn GMX

This might help, http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/Powder.aspx?powderid=25 FWIW, RL 17 works very well in this caliber, gives much higher velocities than other powders

.223 Trainer Build on Rem 700, .223 or .223 AI, Smithed or Prefit?

Was just throwin it out there. Since you already have glass and a stock for the 223, you're right, doesn't make much sense. I guess I'm lucky to have a local gunsmith who only charges $150 to chamber.

.223 Trainer Build on Rem 700, .223 or .223 AI, Smithed or Prefit?

Instead, I'd buy two or three 6.5 barrels and use the rest of the budget to buy ammo or reloading components. Practice the way you play
