Accuracy of CZ 457 Varmint 22LR non MTR

I had good overall accuracy with my varmint, but the cold bore shift made me crazy, so I replaced the barrel. If you're thinking about upgrading your 457, I would caution you to consider things before going down that rabbit hole. I did a lot of work to mine and put a good amount of time and...

    Suppressed Subsonic 300 Blackout

Man, you're all over the place. If cost is a concern and you're just looking to get into the experience of shooting suppressed, .22 is a good option. The next best option would be 9mm. 115gr can be had for around $200 per 1000, and subs can be had for around $300 per 1000. I do not have...

    Suppressed Subsonic 300 Blackout

If your concern is being more quiet than your friends who shoot 5.56 and .308, I'd say that just about any 300BO shooting subs through any suppressor is going to be more quiet than your friends. Although some suppressors are "better" than others, differences are usually subtle, rather than night...

    Suppressed Subsonic 300 Blackout

Well, it sounds like you have a good bit of money to throw at this project. I don't know anything about the inner workings of the MPX platform. I'm an AR guy. I assemble all of my own ARs and assemble each for a specific purpose with a specific goal. My 9mm, as mentioned, is a 5" radial delayed...

    Suppressed Subsonic 300 Blackout

I should have added that I have a 5" AR in 9mm that is a dedicated suppressor host. With a 6" suppressor direct threaded to the barrel, it is a very handy package, BUT not very comfortable to shoot with a handguard typical of that barrel length. I wound up having to tuck the suppressor under a...

    Suppressed Subsonic 300 Blackout

If this is going to be a dedicated subsonic/suppressed setup, I'd go for something in the 8" range. This will leave you with enough rail space to mount a light or other accessory. With subsonic ammo, barrel length vs velocity isn't much of an issue. There isn't much difference in velocity...

    AR Tuning question

The smart ass response that popped into my head was to say get rid of the brake. There are a couple of things you can do. First, if you're running the setup 1500 rounds at a time, I definitely wouldn't go lighter on the spring. That will probably cause you to have failures to go into battery...

    Vortex 1-10

I was and am still a fan of the G2 Razor. It has good glass and that big honkin view through the eye piece just wows you. So much so that many came to over look the short comings. Its kinda heavy for what it is. It has a wire reticle that is thicker than it needs to be to accommodate the method...

    Vortex 1-10

I don't remember if I mentioned it above, but one standout LPVO to me is the Trijicon Credo 1-6 SFP. The one with the segmented circle etched bdc reticle. Under $1k, very good glass, you dont need super bright illumination with the reticle and its not too heavy. For a 5.56 setup, it really nice.

6ARC gas systems and A5 buffer systems and factory ammo...what's the baseline?

Oh, as for messing with the differing buffer weights. The best deal I've seen is to just buy an A5H4 buffer from KAK. This way you'll have 4 tungsten weights and its the cheapest way to get tungsten weights that I've found. You can just cannibalize steel weights from whatever cheap carbine...

6ARC gas systems and A5 buffer systems and factory ammo...what's the baseline?

Oh, geez. I feel for you. In any case, I wouldn't burn too many brain cells on it. Now, you really have to take what I say with a grain of salt. I've had to diagnose and repair MANY ARs in varying calibers, but I have zero experience with 6 ARC. I'm talking in complete generalities. The beauty...

    SR25 + RC2 & Double Feeds, Lube thoughts?

Yeah, you're right. That didn't even click off in my head.

6ARC gas systems and A5 buffer systems and factory ammo...what's the baseline?

Unless this is going to be some sort of setup for gaming or you plant to shoot very few rounds between cleanings, I'd avoid going with any sort of lighter spring. As the rifle gets dirty you'll likely start having problems with the bolt not wanting to go all the way into battery during cycling...

    SR25 + RC2 & Double Feeds, Lube thoughts?

There is no place on an AR15, other than when used for assembly, for grease. In fact, if you're going to be running more than 100 rounds between cleanings, using grease is likely accelerating wear. Lower viscosity lube works best in an AR because it flows and the cycling of the action allows the...

    Long range 22 LR

Are you looking for an accurate cheapie rifle or are you looking to get kinda serious about rimfire? I went the pieces parts route with my CZ 457. I bought the rifle. Modified the stock. Added the timney trigger and then the Lilja barrel. For all of the time I spent tweaking, tuning and...

Suppressor questions with PTR Vent 1

Plan B is another taper mount system that is pretty popular. Although I use the YHM SRX taper mount system, if I had it to do over again, I'd likely start with a Rearden Atlas/Atlas XL mounting interface for the suppressor and Plan B muzzle devices from a manufacturer of your choosing. It is...

    Vortex 1-10

I have 2 "classes" of ARs that I run most often. 2 11.5s and a 16". On the 11.5s I run a TA11 ACOG. Its about as capable AND convenient as you can get. The other is running the 1-8 NX8. Its small and light and allows me to squeeze the most performance out of the setup. The 11.5s are the rigs...

    Vortex 1-10

Yeah, In an odd way, I felt a bit relieved when I saw this. For a while, I thought that I might be crazy. When shopping for an LPVO, I watched all of the videos from guys that I considered to be the least shillish and tried the PA PLXc, touted as being the best LPVO out now, the ATACR, Eotech...

    Suppressors Mount or direct thread?

Lol. I'm 5'4". I run K cans. Well, I run YHM Fat Cats on my 11.5s. I'm telling you. The Fat Cat doesn't get nearly the attention that it should. With its included mounting system, my overall barrel length is just under 16". Very manageable. As for the sound reduction, all I can say is that...

    Long range 22 LR

Yeah, if you want a general purpose .22 that you are just going to buy and shoot, go with either the T1X or the CZ. If you are going to modify it to fit some role, the CZ is kinda like the 10/22 of the rimfire bolt gun world. Mine has a Lilja on it. Although I wasn't impressed with the machine...
