Best Sub $750 optic for target and varmint - 2025

For me, there are 4 parts to consider when choosing a scope and what you wind up with will be a compromise. Only you can determine where you're willing to give sacrifice to get more in some other area. I value build quality, image quality, turrets and reticle. There's been lots of talk about...

    Recommend me a muzzle device

On an 18", unless you're going to go with something big and loud that will hold it absolutely flat, just run an A2. A2s do offer some compensating effect too.

Silencer Central trying to undermine getting Suppressors of the NFA

Does it surprise you? Just like the times when ammo got scarce. There were those that did what they could to spread around what they could get and then there were those that quadrupled their prices leaving the ammo to those that could pay. I'm just glad that it can to light. I hope the people...

Eotech vs Acog vs razor 1-6

I should have mentioned something about the ACOG stack. Having the red dot that high up kind of sucks for fast successive shots. Like putting 3 on target at beyond 25 yards. The height will mess with your recoil control, unless you practice with it. On the other hand, having the red dot that...

Eotech vs Acog vs razor 1-6

Is it going to be more close range or more mid range and how do you define mid range? As far as the Eotech goes, I'd put it out of my mind, unless you have a specific reason for wanting one. If you don't run night vision, it is chunky and heavy with a relatively short battery life for what it...

    Which 18” 5.56 Barrel

This is from that guy, Preston something or other, right? Yeah, I like the guy's videos, but take his leader board with a grain of salt. Each barrel is a sample size of one. I suspect that if you based the board on the average of ten of each barrel, the results would be different. I've tried a...

    Suppressors Ultrasonic cleaner: Recommendation(s)?

Yeah, well, the purple stuff is labeled as being safe for metals. I guess you gotta read the small print. When I used it, I diluted with water 3:1. After I cleaned my suppressor, I rinsed it out real good and left it out on my bench while I was doing other things. When I got back to it, I...

    Suppressors Ultrasonic cleaner: Recommendation(s)?

A word of warning regarding the Simple Green HD (the purple stuff). If you heat it much over 100 degrees, it's becomes unstable and will cause aluminum to corrode, and other weirdness. I ran two cycles on my suppressor and realized that I didn't have the heat on. Turned on the heat and started...

    AR10 headspace

Although that is the idea, getting a barrel and bolt from a "guy at the range" could be iffy. If you really know the guy and the guy that he had do the headspace, odds are it won't be a problem. Of course, having at least a no go gauge on hand is never a bad idea, as is checking headspace.

    Suppressors Ultrasonic cleaner: Recommendation(s)?

I just stopped at my local Harbor Freight and picked up the small, $80 model. The only cleaning solution I had was Mister Clean. 3 8 minute cycles removed 5k rounds worth of carbon from the BCG. I should have done this a lot sooner.

    I'll check it out.

    AAC ammo grenading rifles

I can tell you that I have compared the Black Hills 5.56 77gr loadings to the 77gr 5.56 load that I got from Black Arc. Granted, I didn't shoot too much of either, at approaching $1.50 a round; but the Black Arc did come in at close to 100 fps faster in my 16". 100 fps really isn't much, but...

    Suppressed 9mm

@OP, there's a lot to discuss with 9mm PCCs or SBRs or whatever you want to call them. I mentioned the radial delayed blowback rig that I out together to tell you what my experience was, which was positive. For me, it was quick and easy to put together. It turned out to shoot well,, but is an...

    Suppressed 9mm

Oh, wow. I need to see how they got a fixed ejector to work with the rotating bolt. Still, I think I'd prefer the ejector in the bolt.

    AAC "SABRE BLADE BLACK TIP"

I saw that the 55gr Sabre Blades were on sale for .45 a round, so I bought 1k rounds. I like running the lighter, faster stuff out of my 11.5s since I usually only go out to 300 or so with them. They shot well out of my rigs. I don't shoot for small groups because I'm not that good a shot...

    AAC ammo grenading rifles

I've been shooting 110gr Sabres out of my 8" 300BO almost exclusively since putting it together about 18 months ago. I haven't had any issues with it and it's been a solid 1.5 MOA round for me using a 3.5x ACOG at 100 yards. Whatever problems I've had with AAC ammo, they didn't include...

American Ammunition Company 77gr SMK HPBT

You are right. I have brain farts sometimes and I was thinking in terms of some rimfire ammo. Even that might have been something I heard in a dream. I don't usually pay attention to those differences. I get what shoots good for the price right now and then I do what my ballistic calculator...

    Suppressed 9mm

Man, you sound like me. I started with a 5.56 suppressor, just to "take the edge off" for times when I couldn't always wear hearing protection. Now ... I don't want to shoot unsuppressed. 9mm is great suppressed. It's cheap and has enough thump to satisfy that itch. I'd try to stick with a...

American Ammunition Company 77gr SMK HPBT

I get what you're saying. 200ish feet per second doesn't make much of a difference down range, especially with the 77s. I'd even argue that the slower velocities can be better because wind has less of an effect on the projectile. Still, faster is generally better, as long as it isn't at the...
