    Gun friendly hotels in Vegas

Call the Trump hotel. Some people who I know attended SHOT and had no problems. There is also a Holiday Inn Express on the other side of the highway called stadium area. I would imagine that you wouldn’t have too many problems in a place like that and it’s brand new. It’s only about a mile from...

    MDT BR AICS mags source?

Hopefully your government doesn’t add a 25% tariff on your magazines. They show as in stock on the Canadian site.

    What is this borescope pic?

The real question is does it still shoot as accurately as is did before? If it doesn’t get wet or condensation I don’t clean till the groups open up around 150 rounds or so. If it gets wet I’ll push a couple of wet patches followed by some dry patches then a patch of oil. I will then run a dry...

If you're so confident in your work why don't you hold the apple and let someone else give it a try? Any national level shooter of your choice.;)

    Chassis for kids?

I have both an LSS-XL and an ACC Premier with the short buttstock and no folder. Look at the Buttstock section on the MDT site it gives you the minimum and maximum LOP with different chassis. I’m not a fan of AR style buttstocks on precision rifles.

    Very disappointed

This was the one and only time I have shot past 600M. As I mentioned in the post I ran out of my hand loads which is the only reason I bought the FGMM. I’ve never shot 140SMK’s before that day And my home range is only 400M so BC wasn’t even a consideration when selecting bullets. What...

    Very disappointed

If you look at the photos I posted above You will see the 3 top photos have an average velocity of around 1440 fps @ 1,000Y (FGMM 140gr SMK) 2 of the bottom photos are around 1475 fps @ 1,000y (Sierra Custom Competition 140gr SMK) One of the bottom photos has a velocity of 1558 fps @ 1,000y...

    Very disappointed

One box of one type of ammo doesn't prove anything. I typically shoot hand loads but 2 summers ago I brought my rifle to Dead Zero Shooting Park in Tennessee to shoot 1,000y. I ran out of my handloads at 600Y so I bought 2 boxes of 140gr FGMM 6.5CM (140gr SMK) The 2 boxes shot between 1.23...

    Weird looking brass

It's 36 year old brass. Maybe the dude said fuck it I won't be around much longer so I may as well let it rip.

Super weird issues on my .300 Norma Mag reloads

What were the atmospheric conditions? I've used lots of S&B pistol primers and SRP without issue but I've never used their large rifle or magnum primers. The backed out primers have me questioning headspace. Do you have a comparator so you can compare Cartridge Base to Ogive (CBTO) of the sized...

    Factory rifle Accuracy expectations

There is a large enough gap between a $500 and a $4,000 rifle to drive a tractor trailer through. The only rifles that I have purchased in the $500 range have been Savages and they were immediately dropped into aftermarket chassis. Both shot in the .5moa range. The only rifle I have in the $4K...

6.5 Creedmoor Lapua brass. Sm primer vs Lg primer

I've shot down to -4F with Lapua SRP brass, BR-4 primers and H4350 powder without any issues.

Is this normal for a custom action?

Everything starts with a good design and the proper tolerances. Then you need the machinery to perform the tasks demanded of them and machine operators who really take pride in their work. It’s like a chain. If one person doesn’t give a crap about what they’re doing the whole thing falls apart.

    CZ 457

Right now it looks like everything is out of stock. Probably waiting on orders placed at SHOT Show. I have no clue what regulations the USA has on importing firearms. I know that the Canadian rifles don't have any import markings.

    CZ 457

The 457 Varmint MTR is available with a 16”, 20” or 24” barrel in Canada but it is threaded 1/2” x 20tpi. The same way that the At-One is available in Canada with the match chamber in 16”, 20”, and 24” once again with 1/2” x 20tpi. The Canadian importer imports directly from Czechoslovakia...

AIAT - barrel won’t come off

    Righty tighty, Lefty loosey.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new custom build....

Unless you want to Loctite the barrel nut once you establish headspace there is no advantage to using a nut. Most of mine are with a nut simply to avoid the need for a gunsmith. If you have a gunsmith who you trust and can get barrels in a reasonable timeframe there is no downside to a...

    Impact 737R bolt release stuck

I would still spend the 5 minutes it takes to drive out the roll pin and put the spring in place to see if it stays put. It beats the hassle of sending back the action and maybe having to go through the hassles of maybe dealing with an FFL again.
