I shoot both a Rem 260 bolt action and a 6.5 Grendel rifle with the local long range precision field/match club. The 260 is a far superior round once you get past 800 yards. My 24" Rem 260 shoots 140 gr bullets at 2880 FPS. My 20" Grendel shoots 123 gr bullets at 2480 FPS. The difference in...
Strelok has support for the SWFA mil quad reticle. I tried using a Nikon P-223 BDC 600 scope for a short time and hated it. Much much much prefer the SWFA scopes/reticle.
My Grendel weighs in at 13 lbs without magazine. :) It's strictly a range gun for field/match shooting. I wasn't planning on it weighing this much when I started building, but it adds up fast.
I have both the Bushnell Elite 10X and two SWFA 12X scopes. I find that the Bushnell is fine out to about 600 yards, but longer than that and the lack of parallax adjustment becomes more problematical. I also much prefer the SWFA mil quad reticle over the basic mil-dot in the Bushnell. With...
Slug-O,
Thanks for taking the time to take/post photos. I was wondering how tall is the tripod (without ball head) without the center column extended? Is it really 55.1" as specified by Slik?
Thanks again.
BTW, I went ahead and ordered a Manfrotto MVH500AH fluid head. I'm still not sure...
That website link you posted is not Powder Valley's real website. It shows all sorts of inaccurate information about availability and price of items. The real powder valley website is: Powder Valley, Inc.
Added: And yes Gunbot.net is a great resource for finding reloading components in-stock.
I recently bought a Razor HD 20-60 85mm spotting scope and I need to get a tripod for it. I want something sturdy and I'm not too concerned about the weight because it will only be used on the rifle range and will only need to be carried short distances. So, something sturdy and not too...
#1) I assume the OP meant 6.5 Creedmoor and not 6.5 Grendel. I'm pretty sure a 6.5 Grendel is not the best LR Elk Hunter. :)
#2) Generally hunting rifles that need to be carried for long distances are fairly light but LR competition rifles that need to fire accurate strings of rounds at LR are...
I was incorrect. The other spotting scope was a Zeiss 85mm diascope (with 20-60 eyepiece). In my unbiased? opinion the Zeiss and the Razor HD were equally sharp. The Razor (with 30X WA eyepiece) had a wider field of view than the Zeiss at 30X and the Razor had slightly better contrast than the...
I'm betting that Vortex hasn't produced a reticle eyepiece for the Viper spotting scope line because it would remove one of the big advantages of moving up $$$ to the Razor HD 85mm product.
