Gunsmithing Any particular smith(s) the go to guy(s) for a Badger Ordnance M2013 build?

You're going to also want to check that the breech ring is not being "Sandwiched" between the feed ramp and the barrel face. Even if you follow the dimensions exactly, sometimes the breech ring will push back against the feed ramp and push a bur up. Also, the breech ring can benefit from...

    Nucleus action question

The Nucleus will have a longer magazine length in the bottom of the action as well as a longer ejection port to handle what you are wanting to do. Mark

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

It was a knob from SHOT show.

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

I believe the production model will have a longer ejection port in the rear. Again, this was 1 of probably 3 prototypes and was executed in an extremely short period to meet the SHOT show dead line. I'm sure there will not be any issues with ejection on the production model. The Nucleus in my...

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

I have not installed one yet, I don't see why it would not. Next time I have it split, I will try to put one in. Mark

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

The handles have a unthreaded O.D. of .3125" and a 10/32 thread internally. The Bolt knob's I.D. matches the .3125" closely but has a 10/32 threaded stud on the inside. You can modify most common knobs by drilling or boring out the internal thread of the bolt knob to .313"-.316" and inserting...

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

I would be curious to see if a swept back handle which was swept back by heating up the area to be bent would fail in testing. That is up to Ted to decide. I'm sure it would be pointless unless the process of heating back and sweeping was done in a controlled fashion. For the finish, most...

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

I'm shooting it in a 6x47 Lapua right now. Shooting the 115 DTAC's at 3030-3040 FPS. It has been hammering! I took it to a local match this last weekend and placed 6th with it. Have not shot a match in a while or really practiced. The rifle performed perfectly! Mark

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

The cocking on the Nucleus actually feels a little lighter than the Mausingfied. I was hoping to rig up a fixture that would allow me to lift handles and measure the amount of force required to do so, just have not had time to make it happen. For the bolt handle, I will update the original...

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

I will say that Ted at American Rifle Company is very receptive to constructive criticism and is currently implementing some changes on both platforms. He does a good job of staying on his toes and he is dedicated to making the best product he can. We will be offering barrels for both...

American Rifle Company Nucleus: Time well spent!

Shooters, This is Mark from Short Action Customs. I have not been on much just because we have been extremely busy, we moved into a new building and life is busy in general. I wanted to post up about the American Rifle Company "Nucleus" action. We have had one in our shop for about a month now...

Gunsmithing Nothing better than finding the perfect tooling!

I agree, last thing I would like is for the Government to have more programs with regulations. In my opinion, if one were to want some type of organization, it would be a guild or something along those lines. Mark

Gunsmithing Nothing better than finding the perfect tooling!

No such thing as a licensed Gunsmith. There is no governing bodies to qualify or certify gunsmiths. You can hang a sign and start up " Joe's super custom tactical sniper rifle custom shop" and have zero experience. Mark

Short Action Customs Alpha 11 action and "LBC" Mod

BAT actions are pretty tight, but normally run really smooth. If you open them up, they may not run any more smooth because of how the bolt bore raceway clearance and quality of machining keep the bolt nice and smooth. I'm not sure you want to mess that up. Mark

Short Action Customs Alpha 11 action and "LBC" Mod

I have not done any BAT actions, I'm not sure the BAT's would be a good idea. They are made pretty tight and to operate a certain way. Mark

Short Action Customs Alpha 11 action and "LBC" Mod

We can get the LBC mod done in/around 7-10 days. We are sending off some Melonite in the next week or so as well. Mark

Short Action Customs Alpha 11 action and "LBC" Mod

It will help out the action and bolt manipulation, we can also just Melonite the bolt and that will help prevent galling and helps with the bolt as well. You can also do both and it will feel great! Mark
