New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
That load is with max of IMR4451. I would not try for more for sure. Mine has a .170 throat and I am right at 2.8" oal. Whats safe in mine may not be safe in others.
And its been about 3 years since I chronographed it so it may be more like 2650. Archery hunting rest of this fall but will try...
6.5x47, basically 6.5 Creedmoor, 140 grain vld doing about 2700 out of a 18" barrel. Bull elk at 400 yards. Bartlein 2B barrel, Mcmillan edge classic stock. People tend to be overgunned and underpracticed.
I ordered a full price Nucleus earlier in 2021. I am really enjoying it and wished I had started using them years ago. Phone and email contacts were very professional and I think they are a great company. Those sale prices were so good that I am sure the demand simply exceeded the supply. I'd...
Finally stopped fixing up 700s and bought a Nucleus this year. If the Origin is similar it will be an easy decision to take either one of them.
Since I started by going the Nucleus route, may stay with it. Like it a lot so far.
I only have one, but love it. 6/45 with Hawk Hill #2 7.5 twist. Pic is 3 shots at 300 yards with 95 vld. 2.53 OAL on the 95.
I could see a 6.5x47 on one someday.
Trigger Tech has had several recalls due to the amount of failures they were having. Funny some will slam Remington 700 factory triggers when TT has had same kind of issues. Glad your's are working out. My Timneys are doing great for me.
Erniethegunsmithdotcom has some excellent springs for Remington 700 triggers. Remove a screw, pull the factory spring, replace with Ernie's spring and got a great trigger feel. Total cost around $10.
After having a Trigger Tech Special go down, I have used a few Timney's with good success...
We've been using Kifaru for 20 years now. Kids have tried Stone Glacier and others. But they both came back to Kifaru packs. We've had great luck with the Kifaru Gun Bearers as well. In the end, packs are a lot like boots. What works great for some, may not so much for others. I'd try to stay...
Personally, having to pay to open the bolt face, swap extractors, buy a rail, replace or grind the recoil lug, and possibly coat it, I'd buy an ARC Nucleus for $999. If building a 30-06 or 280AI, it would make more sense to me.
Walmart 700 dropped in a wood ADL stock without bedding. Factory trigger. Chopped from 24-16.5, lost 200 fps on factory Hornady 55 SP ammo. Lost about 3" or so at 300 yards. Still shoots good. Pic of 300 yard group yesterday.
