New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Bingo!! That's exactly what I'm looking for. The BTR 4-14 is exactly what I need.
Where re are you located Steve? I'm the MD down here at the Mt. Cheaha Club in Alabama.
Paul
Two actually. Both are precharged pneumatics, regulated, lothar walther barrels etc. I will need reticles that will allow both mil range estimation (targets range in size from .75" to 4") and distances from 8 yards to 100 yards and hold over for elevation and wind.
One rifle is .177 (@ 12...
That's close enough. I don't have any but I'm was working on a trade. Hodgdon's website has several powders listed for 6.5 CM but VV wasn't one. I did find an article that recommended VV N160 as an alternate.
Thanks for the help.
I'm thinking about sending my bolt off to EGW to have it threaded and a knob installed. I've never used anything but a standard Rem 700 bolt and they have 3 to choose from.
What has your experience been with the aftermarket offerings?
Thanks,
Paul
Well, I killed my first buck yesterday and it actually sounds a bit strange to say. Weird I know. But here's a little background.
I was raised hunting small game here in Alabama. My dad was a duck hunter so that's what I did growing up back in the 70's and early 80's. My grandfather hunted...
I'm always trying to save for another rifle. Would love to have a DTA Bullpup. Have a blueprinted M700 in 6.5 CM that's a tack driver. But the one rifle that I would head to the bank and borrow money to buy is the TKIV-85. Not a new, hot round or action but I think they are cool.
I won't...
Okay, stop the presses.
I've decided to pass on the Ruger. And while I'd love the CZ, I'd hate to screw it up climbing, hunting, etc.
I've found this>
Zastava M77. It's in .308, ten round magazine and 2-3 MOA accurate.
Okay, not looking for a precision rifle. I have a Remington 700 in 6.5 CM that a friend built for me wearing a Steiner 4-16x50 Military G2. It's a half minute rifle and I love it but more than I need in the deer blind.
Here's what I'm considering.
1) Ruger Scout. It's a cool rifle IMO...
I have a Steiner 4-16x50 Military G2. Took it to the range for the first time today and all I can say is WOW!! I was amazed at how well I could see, well after sunset. It was so impressive, I imagine that I could shoot on moonlit nights, no problem.
Mine was used and came to me without a...
Just bought my first one. It's an Excalibur Vixen. New, old stock for $350 shipped. It's been many years since I've gotten excited about hunting season but this year I can't wait.
I shot a friends Exomax and I was hooked. It punched clean through a standard archery target at 30 yards...
I do about the same. I'm zeroed for 40 and when I had a Mildot scope on the rifle it would reach that far on the reticle. But I will vary the magnification on a SPF scope to better match some pre-lasered points in the pond. That particular scope didn't have half mil marks and I liked having...
Yes agreed, outstanding shooting Nick.
All the above is spot on. I snapped a snapping turtles head off at 90 plus yards in two shots (bad wind call). They are incredible and make great practice platforms. Mine will wear a Steiner soon as well. And they are just handsome rifle IMO.
Was heading to the range this morning to square my son's rifle away and saw this guy in the edge of the yard.
Rifle is a Kalibrgun Cricket in .22. I'm waiting on my Steiner to show up. This rifle will be my trainer. Groups shown are unsorted JSB 18.1, 5 shots at 50 yards, light wind...
