Load Info
I just got done working up a load for my SR-25 using some 180gr SMKs (not the current ones). the ones I have are more like the 175s or the 190s that Seirra makes these days.
Out of my 20" gun I'm getting ~2670fps using LC brass with CCI std primers and 46.2 grains of CFE223...
.22lr AR Upper
Frank White @ Compass Lake Engineering. Match Grade dedicated .22 lr uppers. The uppers use a modified M261 rimfire conversion unit. He will make any configuration you want. I have a DCM match rifle upper and a 10.5" upper that matches my DOE 9mm upper.
Not cheap, but...
I am going to go out on a limb and take a shot at this. Recoil spring too strong. A friend was building a bunch of ARs for customers and almost all of his guns had the same symptoms. In every case a quality spring (Colt, Spikes, etc) cured the problem. Seems the springs he got were simply too...
Another thought: There are two different chambers (note this is a generalization) in our 7.26 machine guns. M60s and the like had a big chamber resulting in brass being blown out more than bolt guns or more recent (M249). The more recent MGs have a smaller chamber and resize much easier. How...
How to Get One
How does one get in line to get one? I cannot find any info, anywhere.
I am at the point where I just want to get a connsistant load without the needed weighing, trickling, . . .
Mike
Soft cases protect against scratches, hard cases protect against bends.
Let's be honest, if they weren't big, heavy, awkward, and expensive, we all would use a hard case all the time.
I went with the SR-25. WHY?? Because I found one that was available. I was not sure if my tOBR was going to make it to me before bad laws started happening (I'm in Connecticut).
Mike
Late data, but:
Federal case, Federal Match AR Primer, 25.5 gr CFE223, loaded to mag length.
Cronos through my krieger service rifle the same as some Black Hills made for the military match guys (MK262 Mod1 ).
AND, no pressure signs (YMMV).
Re: Lazy21 - Ext Eye Relief?
Wow, slam a guy for asking a question in public?
That is exactly the purpose of a forum. Others get the benefit of an answer they might be interested in also. And the answer might be other than that which folks think it might be.

Re: Why so many pulled bullets?
Thanks for that info. I'll pass it on to the folks who developed that method.
I never said I reload this way, but was told by a member of a service team that is how they reloaded 5.56 to get the speed they wanted. Never saw them do it, but I have no reason...
Re: cloning MK262 ammo
Love the CFE223. It meters great through my Dillon, doesn't seen to be temp sensitive, and the barrel cleans up quickly.
When my 7.62 gun gets here, I will try and see how it does in that caliber.

Re: Trigger seletion / narrowed to 3 / feedback needed
I also like the KAS triggers (I think there are seven of them wandering around in my safe) but recently got a couple of Service Rifle triggers from GA. Still sorting out the heavy 1st stage/Very light second stage, but with more trigger...
Re: What advantages does an MK12 have?
As far as ammo goes, MK262 is a relatively mild load for the 77gr pill. I had the opportunity to chrono some military issue MK262 while working up a load for my service rifle. My loads that matched MK262 velocities showed no pressure issues at all...
Re: best type of crimp for rifle loads
For a gas gun, a bit of taper crimp works good. Roll crimps requires all the brass be the same case length, limiting oneself to virgin brass or case trimming after every re-sizing. Moly coated bullets need some crimp even in a mild recoiling 5.56 if...
Re: .22LR upper assembly
Talk to Frank White @ Compass Lake Engineering. He will build a dedicated .22 upper ANY way you want it. He has built me a 10.5" barreled upper to match my 9mm SMG upper and a Service rifle upper. Both are reliable and match accurate.
Not cheap, but you get what...
