    Is the 6XC dead

About 500-700 rounds of barrel life.

    Is the 6XC dead

It's far from dead. In all of my 6XC's RL23 produced the same velocity as H4350 in a 6XC with >100gr bullets, same charge weight same speed. 39.5gr of H4350 or RL23 with a 105-115gr is usually a pretty killer place to start.

Good chronograph for a black powder cannon??

    From experience, labradar.

Worst firearm you've ever purchased, and the one that surprised you?

Worst: Multi-way tie because it took me a long time to connect the dots. Lorcin L22. It catastrophically self disassembled before it had a hundred rounds through it. Kel-Tec SU-16, unreliable and inaccurate pile of flaming dog shit. High point 995 carbine, really quite accurate and reliable but...

    Turret adjustments at longer ranges

Simple advice. Stop thinking about inches or any other linear measurement which is something other than the distance to the target. How far a bullet moves in inches or cm or furlongs or red cunt hairs is not relevant. All that matters is MOA or MILS depending on what reticle/turret unit you're...

FBI Seizes $86 Million From Safe Deposit Boxes, "Permanently Confiscated"

Asset forfeiture laws: Because fuck them plebs. Something something tree something watering with something something.

    Back from Africa

I convert back and forth quite a bit but I mostly use Rand while in country. You can use low denomination dollars throughout most of Africa but in SA it's best to use rands. Zimbabwe has the US Dollar as a national currency because their racist government's policies destroyed their currency...

Night Vision Favorite Clip On Chassis/Stock

Sorta. My NV stuff is collimated which sidesteps that issue pretty well, but my thermal clip-ons have to be zero'd and that was done by adjusting the image location.

    Back from Africa

No jab required. Africa has, not had, a horrible rape culture. Lions in South Africa are, with the exception of a couple of national parks, farmed animals. They're not significantly different to cattle. Under typical circumstances, when someone wants to shoot one it gets fed, loaded on a truck...

Honda to release Hydrogen fuel cell car in 2024

Where does most of the hydrogen in the world which is used for fuel come from? Fossil fuels. I once worked on a project to build a single stage to orbit rockets for small payload insertion into LEO. We had at one point got a grant from the feds because our rocket was powered by "alternative...

    Back from Africa

You ain't wrong at all and such considerations have been duly attended to. I'm not under any misconceptions of the place being something other than it is. It's in a very nice part of Africa but it's still in Africa and as a wise man once said, "Everything in Africa bites..."

How to transition from thinking in MOA to thinking in MILLs

That's not thinking in angular units, that's converting from linear units which people do instinctively understand via mental mathematics to angular units which people do not instinctively use, thus the term "conversion". Flip the statement around to see more clearly: "That plate is 2moa...

    Back from Africa

South Africa's gun laws and those of most countries with intact governments are a bit like most other countries that allow civilian gun ownership that aren't the USA, you have to get a license for each gun, there are restrictions on how many and of what type, the paperwork/process is somewhat...

    Back from Africa

Depends on the assets you decide to hold really. Real estate is certainly not what one should be looking to acquire without a great deal of introspection but that's the case the world over including in the USA. I already bought a house but it's a small 700sqft 2br/1ba in the middle of >40sqmi of...

How to transition from thinking in MOA to thinking in MILLs

All this shows is that you don't understand what I wrote. That's not a burn, it's just a case of someone not knowing what they don't know and having had incompetent geometry teachers or no geometry teachers at all, all of which are common enough in this world. When you call your reticle a...

    Back from Africa

Went over to work out some details of my impending retirement to the dark continent. While I was there I had the opportunity to take a red lechwe. Normally one of these would be simply too expensive but a good friend hooked me up with a hunt at a price I could not afford to scoff at. Taken with...

How to transition from thinking in MOA to thinking in MILLs

Nobody, and I mean nobody, "thinks" in units of angular measure. Step one, pound that into das skull. If it won't go, try a few light taps with a hammer. It worked for me. The difference between the two units of angular measure is not something anyone consciously thinks about. When people say...

Dear Snipers Hide constituents need advice.

No but it's one of the extremely few ways you'll be able to get insurance. Last thing you want is any kind of financial exposure to idiots that send a happy fun ball through their hand/leg/arm/foot/someone else. As an aside, just enjoying a thing doesn't necessarily make you an instructor...
