In the 223 conversion are most guys getting the longer throat option? I would like to load something like the 75 elds for long range shooting, but I was hoping that I would be able to get decent accuracy with a cheap bulk factory ammo for closer range playing around.

What power was getting a complete burn and what kind of velocity?

I think it would be best to jump up to the 300NM in the 18". I heard somewhere that's a good combo ;)

Thanks Frank, that's some good real world feedback. Are these guys using muzzle brakes or a can on the barrel?

Really, 11lbs for the a2. There is a post on facebook from special purpose rifle with a a2 covert kahles scope, arc mount and an 18" proof barrel. No mag or mono pod and the Lop spacers are removed and it says it weighs 10lbs as is. If you add 5.6oz for the mono pod and 6.5oz for the mag and...

If proof made a 20" I think that's what I would do as well, as you mention 6.5" isn't all that much sticking out. Do you find the reach to the bipod on the covert to be similar to a standard rifle or is it closer to the shooter?

The Norma would be for mountain backpack hunting. That's the only reason I would go so extremely short on the barrel. I am in Canada so a can is not an option. I think I would likely still get somewhere between 2800-2850fps with a 215 berger in a 18" which would still make it effective on big...

I was looking at an A1 for a while and almost pulled the trigger on one but the weight was just a bit more than I wanted to deal with. At that time there was no proof barrels available and of course the a2 wasn't out. I am also looking at shorter barrel options to get the setup where I want it...

What country are you exporting to? I am in Canada and was looking at the 223 conversions. With the barrel not installed were you able to avoid going through an importer?

It isn't bad at all. I was shooting prone with a modern evolution bipod and rear bag, and with my scope at 22 power I was able to spot all my shots at 100 yards. The CA side port brake is very effective and I run it with the second and forth port from the shooter opened up to stop muzzle jump.

Finally received my mpr in 300NM, pretty impressive set up in my opinion. Has anyone done any load development for the 300NM. I have lapua brass, 215 bergers, H1000 and N570. I plan on sticking with H1000 if I can get a good load with it. N570 is awesome for max performance but I don't think it...

is it just your new mpr that rattles or they all rattle?

    300 Norma Mag

Does anyone know of a CIP length 300 Norma mag/338 lapua magazine that is made of a polymer or aluminum? I am not digging the half pound steel mags.

I am in Canada so I have lapua brass and n570 available but its a little tough to get the rifle. The only reason it might be six weeks is because someone had it on order and got tired of waiting so I took his spot. Without that it would be more like six months.

This video just makes the wait harder, lol. My mpr in 300NM is supposed to be here in six weeks but we shall see I am not holding my breathe. I have the redding type s fl die set, lapua brass, 215 bergers, h1000 and n570 ready to go.

    300 Norma Mag

That's to bad. With h1000 and pushing 215's at 3090, which shouldn't be extreme pressure, you would think that you would get 900 to 1100 rounds. 650 is less than a RUM usually gets.

    300 Norma Mag

That's not many rounds. Any details? Load you were using, velocity, barrel length. Did you have it bore scoped?

    300 Norma Mag

Different lots of powder can have a substantial variance in burn rate. I have seen it on more than one occasion and tested it to confirm. The other thing I would check for is a donut in your brass. Try sliding a bullet in your fired brass and see it jambs at the neck shoulder junction. What...

    300 Norma Mag

You don't want to bump the shoulder back on new brass at all if it will chamber as is in your rifle or it will just have that much further to stretch when you fire it. That can increase the chance of case head separation down the road.
