    Fastest Military Crimp Removal

What I've been using for years now is an RCBS primer crimp cutter screwed into a 1" 8/32 standoff, chucked into a variable speed drill that can be set to low speed. In a padded vice and a 5 gal. bucket underneath. It takes about 2 seconds per case and you just drop it into the bucket. It's...

    .223 acceptable variation

Just in case weights in different Mfg. 223/ 5.56 cases, the brass can vary from 93 grs. or so to just over 100 grs. Are the 180-184 weight rounds the same head stamp? Too much variation to conclude the 180-184 cases are loaded with too much powder and could be dangerous unless you disassemble...

Berger 223 77 OTM Extreme Spread

Berger had a recall on this ammunition, but it was not your lot#. Your lot looks a lot older. https://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2021/08/berger-safety-notice-for-four-lots-of-223-rem-ammo/

New seating die vs Hornady microjust

Since you already have Hornady dies, I would buy the micro seating stem. I use them on 2-3 sets of dies and they work great. Since the Hornady micro stem is NOT caliber specific, you can use them on other Hornady seating dies. I use one stem for 30/06, 270 Win and 300 WM. I keep the notes on...

AR dies vs standard 223 dies

If you don't own a 223 die set, there's nothing wrong with buying your first 223 dies in a S/B- AR die set as long as the set isn't much more $ than a standard set. If you already have a set of 223 dies, I wouldn't go out and buy the S/B set unless you really NEED them.

    308 FGMM Brass ?

The newer 308 GMM brass cases that have been made in the last 10 years or so are much better cases than they used to be. They can be identified by the dark blue primer sealant around nickel plated primers. The older cases had no primer sealant and a brass primer. I have no problems getting 8+...

Problem with new Redding type S bushing die

Did you look at the numbers stamped into side of the die and confirm it's a F/L die and not a N/O die? I have both and my F/L bushing die has no issue getting plenty of shoulder bump.

75gr ELD vs 77gr RDF for tac class?

I couldn't get the 77 RDF's to shoot in two rifles, a 20" WOA and a Rainier 18" SPR. I tried Varget, 8208, AR Comp & H-4895. The only load that the best was 23.5 of 8208. 6- 5 shot groups ranged from 1.2" to 1.4". Both rifles will shoot the Sierra 77's with the same load @ MOA or better. Had...

Out of the box Tikka will not chamber rounds

I had a tight chambered rifle that would not chamber any cases that had a case web diameter of .469"+. I had a lot of once fired brass, fired from other Rifles, I wanted to use for that rifle. The problem was most of the brass had web diameters of .469"+. My regular sizing dies wouldn't get...

    Effing Redding dies

Just a FYI on the Mighty Armory F/L 308 die. I first bought a 223 die. It worked perfectly with all of the types of brass I have. I then bought a 308 die. That 308 die wouldn't bump the case shoulders down far enough. I contacted them and sent the die back and had them skim about .008" off of...

Out of the box Tikka will not chamber rounds

The Redding Competition Shell Holders WILL NOT help your issue. The Competition Shell Holders will make your shoulder bump LONGER in .002" increments from +.002" to + .010". A lot of reloaders don't understand this. They will not shorten your shoulder any more than a regular shell holder does...

Out of the box Tikka will not chamber rounds

On my Tikka 270 Win., It took turning the sizing die in a bit more. Comparator measurements showed my Tikka has a tighter chamber than my other J.C. Higgins 270 Win. The Tikka brass needed to be shoulder bumped more, right near SAAMI minimum. Once I set my die properly, no chambering issues...

What do you make of this??

Shoulder collapse due to low pressure load. Leaked gas before the case could expand and seal. There were lots of photos of this occurring in high capacity cases in the old Speer reloading manuals.

Blown Up Rifle, Lessons To Be Learned.

I do the same thing. I only have about 4 Pistol powders, I keep them in a separate plastic container ,in a different area away from the where the Rifle powders are kept.

    Hornady SUPERFORMANCE

No, it is not the same Superformance powder that Hornady uses. Your best bet would to get some Alliant 2000 MR or some CFE 223 to try to get you velocities over what most other powders will get you to. My first choice would be the 2000 MR. You will need that with your 20" tube. I have some very...

Issues bumping back the shoulder on brass

This is exactly why I bought a set of the Redding Competition Shell Holders. I set my bump zero on the +.006 shell holder. That gives me .004" on either side to get more or less bump with just being able to switch a Shell Holder out. I use such of a variety of brass it gives me a lot of...

    Something odd in my bolt

I used an early production SR-25 from the late 90's to the early 2000's on a tactical team. I used Federal 168 GMM for years in it. Hornady came out with their new 168 AMAX TAP ammo. It shot well and I bought a couple of cases. After using up those lots of ammo, I bought the same new TAP...

    .308 brass

Just be aware that one of the downsides of using a drop in case gauge like the Sheridan, Wilson Dillon and others, is a semi auto rifle can bend the rim of the case so it will not fit into the gauge and sit proud, giving you a false reading. Make sure to try a few cases. For your M-1A, your...
