Re: Zero shift when changing power on SFP scopes
The trait that is common amongst Second Focal Plane (SFP) optics is known as "Between Power Deviation". It is the occurrence of reticle movement as the erector changes magnification which in turn creates a change in the POI from the POA as much...
Re: Nightforce NXS NAV-SPEC
The SFP's were utilized in prior years. Now the focus is on MIL-SPEC 3.5-15x50 F1's with H58 reticles and .1mr ZeroStops. Although, the 2.5-10x32 compacts also see a fair amount of use by certain units.
Re: Nightforce NXS NAV-SPEC
NAV-SPEC is the Same as ARMY SPEC in construction(per the pamphlet).....now they are just known as MIL-SPEC.
That is a Mk11 Scope as Lowlight said with .25MOA ZS adjustments. It is a second focal plane; not an F1. Is the reticle a true Mil Dot? Meaning nothing...
Re: Bit the bullet and bought an S&B 5-25x MOA/MOA P4f
Try and hang some newspaper at 100 yards and see if you can read it with both of them. That should provide a good objective test of resolution and contrast. Maybe get a color chart and see how color is replicated to the eye. Lastly, try...
Re: NF mil-spec warranty
If you need warranty service; the 10 year warranty on our MIL-SPEC Product is more limiting than our execution.
It is not our intent to leave any of our customers hanging.
We believe in the philosophy of treating others as we would expect to be treated.
Re: 2012 NorCal TBRC SureFire Invitational AAR
On behalf of Nightforce Optics, I would like to say thank you to Vu, Sean, and his crew for doing a phenomenal job on putting on a World Class match. NorCal is for sure one of the Premier Bolt Rifle matches...
Re: Scope Suggestions for the PSR ??
The official scope for SOCOM PSR is mentioned above. The SOCOM PSR rifle still has not been selected. It has made it much farther along this go round than the first phase of trials.
Big Army PSR still has not solicited.
If/when it does, it will most...
Re: Who to order Nightforce (2.5-10x32) from?
I know that Sean speaks of first hand experience of the MOAR in the NF 10x. It will be a hot reticle in that model for sure.
Re: Reloader 17 in a 16" barreled Semi-Auto
Never chronoed or validated. I will venture to guess 30-40fps slower. Typically 15-20fps per inch of barrel.
I would be curious to know what RL17 does with the 178 AMAX.
I think it will be a good combo.
Re: Reloader 17 in a 16" barreled Semi-Auto
RL17 has given the best consistent accuracy to date out of my 16 and 18" Larue OBR.
In Fed brass with 210M's:
-48.8 gr. under a 175 Barnes Match Burner loaded to 2.820" @ 2580fps
-48.5 gr. under a 190 SMK loaded to 2.820" @ 2570fps
I love the 190...
Re: Shooter app, Why Temperature w/ Density Altitude
Shooter utilizes temp when selecting DA sot hat the proper speed of sound can be calculated. Speed of sound is directly related to temperature.
Some other programs that allow a Density Altitude input do not recognize temperature and cannot...

This is correct. We are in the process of migrating hosting sites. We are working to correct this quickly.
Re: .300 win mag recipe
I like 66.2 gr. of RL17 with a 215M in Winchester Brass with the 230 about .030" off the lands.
Gets me right under 2900fps with single digit SD for average of 5.
At first I tried .005 in to .010 out and just wasn't too pleased with the consistency. Went back and...
Re: NF F1
Nightforce scopes always have constant pressure on the erector assembly. There are physical stops installed that will not allow the turrets to adjust beyond the travel of the erector.
Re: NF F1
You will be fine. The F1 will always have 110moa total at minimum.
Its not uncommon to get a little more. You probably had about an additional 4-5 minutes right?
Its always a good idea to verify that your turrets track on any scope. And as mentioned, try and run a box or tracking...
Re: nightforce not returning to zero
If you set the ZeroStop properly, you would dial down to a hard definitive stop wherever you set it.
The NF ZS has the ability to be set below Zero.
I'm assuming you loosened the 4 screws on top of the clutch assembly, rotated the top clutch face...
