    Origin vs tl3

As much as I prefer the straight bolt handle of the TL3, I bought two origins. 50% increase wasn't worth it to me. Seems like the origin prefits are catching up in popularity to the TL3 ones. I'd buy with confidence.

Reuse Tikka T3 action or buy new

As above, I would certainly use that action. If the barrel isn't shot out, sell it to get some money back. Add in a stock and barrel of your choice and I'd expect you'd be under what one specs on a CTR and it's setup exactly how you want. I think PVA does Tikka prefits now too, so plenty of options.

6.5 Grendel: Howa vs CZ and other questions

I have a 527 American that was a limited run with hand rubbed oil finish on the stock with rosewood grip caps. Mine is in 223 and I love it, just wish it had a 1-9 twist for more variety in bullets. It shoots well and just has this old world quality feel that really does it for me. The finish is...

    Greyboe Stocks?

$200 for the renegade seems like an excellent deal. Only consideration would be weight, not sure what qualifies as hunting weight for you. Their outlander is lighter and may be more applicable depending on your needs.

    Ultralight stocks

Love the EH1 also. Does your weight include bottom metal, or are we looking at stock only? Mine has the mini chassis, two flush cups, one sling stud and weighs in at 2lbs 7.75 ounces. Without the mini chassis you should be looking at sub 2 pounds (depending on your other options)

6.5 PRC in Remington 700 Long Action?

280ai if you want to keep hunting with some long range target shooting. Factory ammo from Hornady, federal, and nosler. It takes full advantage of the long action. Save your brass and you will be ready when you start to load. Also hard to beat the old 30-06. the 270 itself is fine, but as a...

6.5 PRC in Remington 700 Long Action?

Side question on the caliber side, do you reload? I'd factor that into your choice of caliber and then chamber when ordering.

    ++Bighorn TL3 Builds++

They sneak it in there. Pretty sure theyve only added it in the last few years. Bought some lowers and they tacked it on there too. https://www.brownells.com/helpcenter/ffl-items/index.htm?id=52 "Brownells will charge a $10 FFL processing fee on orders containing FFL items. The fee is per...

    Subpar Manners Stocks Inletting

I wasn't referring to a call back within a day if you leave a message (Ive always gotten one). I've always gotten prompt response to emails through their website too. I was referring to getting a live person on the line right now, every time you call. At my job I take one call and get two...

    Subpar Manners Stocks Inletting

I've had great experiences with them on the forum and email. Sometimes phone requires more than one call. As someone who has worked in customer service, I don't get offended by that. I somehow managed to strip a sling stud from the stock. I think with shipping it was gone and back in around a...

    Rebarrel or Rechamber?

In addition to checking all the screws, consider trying a different scope that is known to function well.

I ended up at 8 pounds with the following, 6 pounds 13 ounces without the scope/rings. Big Horn Origin PVA Rock Creek #2 26 inch PRC Geiselle trigger Manners EH6 Wyatt's extended mag Hawkins BDL floorplate Seekins 30mm low rings Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44

Origin SA with Wyatts extended box

I'd load up a dummy round and see where you're at overall length-wise. I like the extended box in case I ever had to buy ammo while hunting. They only had the short action when I built mine. By the time you have it opened up for the box, may be cheaper to just go LA depending on your intended use.

Origin SA with Wyatts extended box

I'm running that exact setup. Had to do some light filing in the area where they milled open for the box, but otherwise Wyatt's has the extended box and a follower specific to the round. Just put in your order notes that you want the PRC follower. Feeding is pretty good and very smooth...

    Bighorn Origin not feeding PRC

Running mine in a BDL without issue. There's some videos on tuning the mags, I'd assume you have to adjust the feed lips to set the larger cartridge at the right height.

Custom Bolt Action Build at Home?

Main thing is the barreled action. As above, you can spend as much or as little as you want on a stock/chassis. gac700 spent $1200+ on a manners. Maybe you want a boyds, KRG, or grayboe in the $400 area, etc Stock/chassis is a big area for difference in price. For the rest it seems like the...

Custom Bolt Action Build at Home?

The trigger timing thing is over stated. If you have some cock on close and it bothers you then you can send the action and trigger to have it done or do it yourself. As above, do a little research, ask some questions and if you like a project just go for it.

Custom Bolt Action Build at Home?

I put together two origins in my basement and both shoot great. If you have a decent amount of mechanical aptitude, I don't see an issue. It isn't as easy as an AR, but take your time and watch videos etc and you'll be fine. You may be tinkering with some things, as above. DBM may need fitting...
