6.5CM Hornady Brass Life and Loose Primer Pockets?

I'll probably do another 50 round ladder speed test if I switch brass and primers. I also just noticed the headspace in my chamber (Proof Research CF wrapped 22") has grown about .008" based on brass measurements from when it was new to now, so I wonder what's up with that -- a sign of too much...

6.5CM Hornady Brass Life and Loose Primer Pockets?

So I got a hold of those pocket measurement tools and threw out a good 50 of my lot of 200 for being too big. I started priming the remaining 150 and they all just went in too easily, so rather than wasting powder and bullets and range time I just junked the whole lot. When I go to Hodgdon's...

6.5CM Hornady Brass Life and Loose Primer Pockets?

I've got a couple hundred Hornady 6.5CM cases that I've shot four to five times. Recently, a good number of them have loose primer pockets, loose enough so that when fired the primers fall out and get lodged in the chamber or where the bolt locking lugs are supposed to go = failure to chamber...

    Suppressors Recent NFA wait times?....

I purchased a can (Griffin Optimus) from Silencer Shop on 12/28/2018 and completed the fingerprints, trust paperwork and all that the same day. My order status shows that they are still waiting on Form 3 approval to send the can to my FFL. I was going to follow up with a Form 1 for a 300BLK SBR...

Tools to parse Magnetospeed V3 data file?

So the Magnetospeed V3 puts out data file that you can load in Excel and that's all good and well It's still a bit of work to graph it all and discover information like speed nodes and such from it. Are there any programs out there that you can upload the data file into which will produce a...

Made a cheap $50 lathe for brass prep tools.

Oh yeah, seeing videos of that thing run from what looks like a 1/2 or 1/4 HP AC motor, it's smooth and powerful. I was seriously considering one, but for some reason, Giraud doesn't make 6.5 Creedmoor dies for it. I've made about 175 rounds on this guy and so far so good. It's noisy...

Made a cheap $50 lathe for brass prep tools.

I got tired of running my hand-held drill for spinning brass prep tools and running the Lithium batteries down. I bought some cheap chinese-ium electronics for $50 from Amazon: 18V power supply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079NJ63SQ DC motor speed controller...

Some observations on the Hornady 140gr ELD Match and 147gr ELD Match (6.5 Creedmoor)

Got to shoot my first-ever reloads today! None of them blew up in my chamber and my face / fingers are all still attached. Such a good feeling! 140g: The Hornady 140g loaded to 2.85 OAL" and shot from the ASC mag was not happy at all. At least four failure to feeds (stuck like this / )...

Some observations on the Hornady 140gr ELD Match and 147gr ELD Match (6.5 Creedmoor)

Recently I sent away some once-fired brass to Hornady so they could make me a case for their OAL tool. Now I've finally been able to measure the distance to the lands in my rifle's barrel for any given bullet. (Proof Research AR-10 22") When I use a 140gr Hornady ELD Match bullet, the distance...

    General Reloading Process?

It's AR-10 semi. I have MagPul SR25 mags (10 round and 20 round) that like 2.8" and ASE 5 round mags that will accept 2.862" but it's a really close fit, so maybe not. I think what I'll do is load some 2.862" and if they have feeding problems I'll just push them down more. I'm still doing load...

    Chamfer - Deburr: Important?

This is my 'Abbreviated' Process now for 6.5 Creedmoor 147g Hornady ELD Match, AR10: Pop Spent Primers (Handheld Lee Press) Clean Primer Pockets (Rotary Tool) (1x) Flash Hole Uniform / Deburr (Rotary Tool) (1x) Anneal ( 12mm long hex socket in drill, fast 10 count in blue flame.)...

    General Reloading Process?

Well just an update, I was able to find out how far I'd have to seat a bullet to get it to the lands in my rifle. I took a full length resized brass case and opened the neck up a bit with a dremel on the inside so that a bullet could slide back and forth with a bit of friction. I made it extra...

    Chamfer - Deburr: Important?

I just finished running my first 200 pcs of 6.5 Creedmoor brass through the Trim-It II chocked onto a drill clamped into a bench vise. They didn't need to be length resized as most were within SAAMI spec and once-fired, once resized, but I did it anyway to put the inside chamfer in so that the...

    General Reloading Process?

Ah sonofab... I swore I looked there earlier and they were out of stock. Oh well. Thanks for the code and the active junky tip though! A bunch more of my reloading stuff came in this week. I bought a Rock Chucker Supreme and the Hornady conversion kit to use those LnL quick change dies on it...

What are you guys running for ammo in 6.5 Creedmoor gas guns?

Oh wow, plenty of room for activities! I bought two of them. Thanks!

What are you guys running for ammo in 6.5 Creedmoor gas guns?

I am going to try to reload some 140g Hornady ELD into some once-fired (in my chamber) Hornady brass. I'm limited to magazine length so I won't be able to get the ojive close to the lands, but I can live with that. Will probably make a few loads of H4350 from 39.0 to 41.5gr to start.

    JP low mass BCG

So you went from not holding the bolt back, to holding the bolt back to ejecting rounds at the 2'oclock? Maybe go back to a fully closed gas block and work your way up to ejecting with smaller turn increments of the adjustment screw? (A few clicks, maybe like 1/8th of a turn at a time...) I...
