New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
This is not the same project or I would have mentioned it in the other thread. My m995 is right handed. I want to build my son a left handed bolt. I just thought I'd ask because I'm finding that Sako (Tikka) actions are respected and valued.
Thanks for all the info, I have installed 1 savage barrel with a nut and go/ no go gauge. As I recall it was fairly easy. I was just not visualizing the shouldered prefit thing.
Turns out I have a Sako 7mm with a M995 action. I havnt used the rifle in years. In my recent research on building a Tikka based rifle for my son it occurs to me that maybe this is a good action. But I don't know. Is this an outdated action or is it worth building a chassis rifle off of?
And if I was on here worried about barrel life I'd be told that barrels are made to be replaced like tires and to go be poor somewhere else. Anyway... glad yall love 223. But I don't.
Ummm. No. 223 is lame. For p dogs and coyotes it's ok. I don't do "ok". Fast twist 250 or 22 creed is where its at. I really don't see this as a comp gun. I realize many if not most guys on the Hide are comp shooters, but in SD we tend to prefer warm targets.
I want a heavier contour but I can't seem to get a tikka action without buying the whole rifle or I can and it just costs the same. So as long as I can get a rifle in the cartridge I'm interested in, I might as well burn that sucker up. Considering how my son shoots, it shouldn't take long...
Yes I came across some OMR horror stories. Mostly older ones. More recent feedback is more favorable.
I think I'm gonna get a T3 lite in 22-250 with 8 twist and put it in a XRS chassis. My local gunsmith can get me one for $870 and thread the barrel for $100. We will burn up that...
