Would anyone be interested in a match bullet assortment pack?

Wouldn't you need at least 30 of each? 🤔😉

6gt ARC CDG and light primer strikes

I tend to avoid using virgin brass for load development or matches, mainly because I've bumped into some discrepancies in powder charge between virgin and 1x fired, not necessarily because of the head space so much as its the whole case expanding a bit differently (more) from its virgin state vs...

6gt ARC CDG and light primer strikes

I think it's fairly typical for bolt actions to have 45-50 thou of firing pin protrusion. The headspace would have to be off a *lot* for the firing pin to not fully crush the pellet in the primer and ignite the powder column. @RegionRat might have better hard numbers on that.

6gt ARC CDG and light primer strikes

I'm guessing you're measuring the depth with the tail of your calipers? Not the best tool, but short of spending $$$ on a dedicated device, certainly usable. Pocket depth (0.124) minus primer height (0.120) gives a difference of 4 thou. So for the primers to be just touching the bottom...

    Neck collapsed reloading new brass?

First problem, right there. What kind of die are you using? The better quality inline micrometer seaters (Redding, Forster, Wilson, etc.) tend to not have that kind of problem. Partly because the body sleeve supports things better, and partly because they don't have any option for crimping...

6gt ARC CDG and light primer strikes

Did you by chance measure the primer pocket depth before hand? Primer seating depth after seating? I'm not trying to get you headed down any rabbit hole of measuring/sorting primer seating depth on the regular, but mainly as a troubleshooting tool here. If the primer pocket is fairly tight -...

Is the new "custom" dies worth the extra money?

^ this For a long time, I used Redding Type 'S' F/L bushing dies, and Comp seaters. Then I found that Forster Ultra BR seaters did the same thing, for about 2/3 the price. I've tried different dies from Forster, RCBS, Redding, Whidden, Wilson and Bullet Central over the years. At the end of...

Finding lands with a zermatt action

The one is a TT Diamond, 2-stage, and the second is a TT Special. I haven't had that one long enough to really say anything about it one way or another, besides it 'feels' about the same as the first, at home in the shop. The first one is an earlier model, so the bolt has been back to Zermatt...

Finding lands with a zermatt action

Okay, I went out and played around with this a bit, and jogged my memory. Take the wave washer out from behind the bolt head. Take the spacer / baffle out too, otherwise it'll rotate independent of the head, and cause all kinds of grief. Yes, the toggle pin / cross bolt will then be loose...

Finding lands with a zermatt action

I've done it before with one Origin; can't recall if I ended up pulling the washer from between the bolt body and head, as well as the firing pin assembly. I recently got a second Origin, so maybe I can try it tonight for comparison. Some actions are just enough tighter that it doesn't work...

Little Crow Gunworks: Avg POI Is More Important Than Group Size. Thoughts?

No, they really don't. Their load dev amounts to pick a cartridge, pick a powder, pick a bullet, set the seating depth to some random value then never touch it again, and run up the powder charge to where you think the velocity should be. If you call that 'in extreme depth'... good for you.

    Crushing .223 Cases

Well, your numbers make no sense - 2.235, and 2.20? Get a new caliper that you trust. Usable ones are cheap. Good ones aren't that expensive.

    Used AMP prices?

Really? I couldn't hardly give my MkI away for $800, three-four years ago. Since upgraded to Aztec, still chugging away 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Traveling with reloading components

5 kg of loaded ammo for flying. Unprimed brass and bullets should, in theory, just count towards your normal 50 lbs per checked bag. Individual hazmat items like powder, primers are generally no bueno. Might be able to put together a bunch of primed brass and count it as the 5kg of 'ammo'...

Little Crow Gunworks: Avg POI Is More Important Than Group Size. Thoughts?

I'll admit, I'm probably - no, *definitely* - guilty of 'deciding' on the powder/bullet based on factors other than actual testing, and then trying to 'make' them shoot. In my defense, that was usually because a) I was shooting some combos that were pretty well mapped out by others (308/223 +...

Shoulder Bump: 1.556" feels perfect – still size to 1.554"?

I'm guessing someone ran an average in a spreadsheet, and copy-pasta'd all the digits, rather than truncating back to the thousandth like they should. Then they're trying to read something significant from what are basically rounding errors. At that point, he's probably better off just going...
