Rifle Scopes DNT 7-35x56 FFP Riflescopes

Well... got up to the range today with another local shooter (@Rover31) to have him put eyes on/thru the DNT, and compare/contrast with a few other scopes. We did all the eyeball comparisons with the guns still cold / no rounds through them, so no barrel/brake mirage, and it was the usual (for...

Rifle Scopes DNT 7-35x56 FFP Riflescopes

Better to go through DNT, or the reseller (Camera Land)?

Rifle Scopes DNT 7-35x56 FFP Riflescopes

Yep... been doing this long enough to be able to tell barrel/brake mirage from downrange mirage ;)

Rifle Scopes DNT 7-35x56 FFP Riflescopes

I've got a bit of experience over the years, especially with my F-class scopes (Nightforce BR/NXS 12-42x, Comp 15-55x, Vortex GE 15-60x, etc.). Kind of surprised me, after all the hub-bub here about these scopes that I couldn't quite get the target image to be sharp / crisp @ 100yds. Even on a...

Rifle Scopes DNT 7-35x56 FFP Riflescopes

Is there some trick to getting these dialed in to where the image actually appears crisp/clear?

Who cleans BCGs in an ultrasonic cleaner?

How does heat affect the process? Heat has three main roles in the ultrasonic cleaning process: Increasing the effectiveness of soaking: In general, warmer liquids are more effective at removing a wide variety of contaminants, leading to superior cleaning results. Gas removal: Dissolved air and...

    6gt

Usually it's pretty close. I've had some specific situations where a 'max' load worked up with virgin brass needed to be backed off in order to not be over-pressure in sized brass. Basically some of the energy is being used to fully fire form that virgin case, and on subsequent loadings that...

Barrel vice and action wrench kit?

Any particular reason your first step isn't to get the action wrench from the action maker? Northland Shooter Supply has the Zermatt action wrench for $85.

    6gt

^ this The lube situation applies as well, as covered by others... but the brass doesn't fully fireform to the chamber for a few (2-3) firings unless you're running just stupid hot loads.

    Pre-fit barrel alignment

Well, I did get it through EuroOptic... I'm guessing 9-10 months is kind of pushing the return window a bit though. Worth an ask, I guess.

Ordered an Aero Precision Solas long action a month ago..

Where was he fucking off to for the last two months? Or is he a new hire now that they realized that they'd shot themselves in the crotch with the complete lack of CS?

New Lapua Brass - Neck Tension

Besides the usual case prep, tumble the new/virgin brass in some used/dirty media (rice, corn cob, whatever). The bare metal + the residue from the final 'wash' stage during manufacturing leaves the neck IDs almost 'sticky' when it comes to sliding resistance. A little bit of tumbler dust will...

    Pre-fit barrel alignment

Well... nuts. Scope (the Burris) showed up today, while I was at the range playing with a NSS/Criterion 6CM barrel-nut barrel on the Origin. Put the gun up on the tripod, zeroed the turrets on the DNT 7-35x (I'd been messing with loads and then holding off with the tree, so I hadn't bothered...

    6gt

I had 6x47 years ago... technically I guess it was a 6-6.5x47L... shot great, never had a problem with that cartridge. I was watching one of the Hornady podcasts where they had George & Tom on talking about the 6GT; I think George mentioned that the 6x47L was sorta fussy to get to shoot. Not...

    6mm Arc Build Questions

I'm very interested in this as well. The last couple AGB I've used I torqued them down to what I thought was pretty damn snug, but I had gas leakage all over the place. To the point I'm seriously considering that AGC that PVA offers with the matched bolt.

    6mm Arc Build Questions

I'm in a similar spot... you might add the following to the list: 20" Precision Firearms (formerly Samurai)

    **6 Creedmoor**

Using up some old components while I waited for the 'good' brass to show up... S107MK @ 2.050" BTO (~40 thou jump), 2x Hornady brass, BR2 primers, 42.0 gn H4350 running @ ~3050 fps. Bullets and primers are probably 18-20 yrs old. Barrel is a Criterion 26" med Palma "variable headspace" aka Sav...

Help deciding on chassis for Tikka T3x

I think MDT is sunsetting the LSS-XL, ESS, and Tac-21 in favor of the new LSS gen 3. Not sure if they'll have all the same inlets available right away.

    Solus bolt issues

    Good luck with that! 🤣

    custom dies

Hornady does them... reamer print helps, though I think they prefer to have some cases that have been fired a couple times already as well. I think *maybe* places like Neil Jones or Cortina Precision *might* do one-off custom dies as well... but with both of those, you get into using custom...
