Care And Feeding Of A GAP 6.5 SAUM.....
I've found mine shoots the 140 HYbrid better than 140 Accubonds. Suprised the 139 Lapua wouldn't shoot and I'm surprised a GAP barrel would shoot anything 3". Try the 140 hybrid load but you might want to call them.- montana3gunner

New scope cap introduction
Rather than make the arms spring loaded with machined parts, you could make them out of heavy duty rubber (like rubber bungee strap material). Less cost and easier to make. It would probably hold the cap snug enough (provided you had the inner ridge you mentioned) you wouldn't need anything...- montana3gunner

I live in MT near G Bears. If you are going hunting in the lower 48, count yourself lucky if you see one, they are rare even for those that live in MT, ID, WY etc. They are fantastic creatures. If one charges you, and you don't spot it before it takes off, you probably won't even clear leather...- montana3gunner

That sounds like a barrel or load problem to me but you might want to try a 140 hybrid or 139 scenar if you haven't. It's usually very easy to find a good load with those.- montana3gunner

Wow, that is great info. I've often wondered what it was like hunting there, and that is completely different than hunting here. In MT shots can range from 25y to 1000y (limited by the obvious factors). The average shot I've taken over the last 7 years has been 300-400y, some out to 500+...- montana3gunner

I like it. Two downsides, the action screws can only be tightened down to approx 20lbs or it will cause the mag to stick. 2nd is the fore end is very wide, so a stock Tikka barrel looks tiny in there.
