Odin Works vs Proof Stainless 6mm Arc AR build?

My barrel sped up quite a bit at about 100 rounds (like 60-70 fps). It is solidly sub moa but not what I would consider a consistent tack-driver like my 6.5 Creed Proof.

Which would you keep given my current rifles? 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel

If I didn't already have the Grendels I would have chosen the ARC for my purposes. The 6mm weight/size/velocity seems pretty much perfectly balanced in the AR-15 platform. I've always wished I had a 243 LBC or similar chambering but wished there were SAAMI support and factory backing. The ARC...

Which would you keep given my current rifles? 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel

@drewthebrave: Ha - you are what they call an "enabler" and I love it! Great logic. I'm going to go shoot the ARCs for a while and see if I miss the Grendels. I may just keep a Grendel barrel as insurance against your case above (ammo shortage). However, it appears that ARC has a greater...

    Building the Perfect Reloading Room

Totally worth it! There's a company here in Utah that makes metal doorframes and doors to order (Beacon Metals). For about $450 I picked up a door/frame/hinge set and in a couple hours hammer drilled the concrete to install the screw anchors. Super simple, but super dusty!

    Building the Perfect Reloading Room

Always - you'll notice there is nothing of high import on the floor for that very reason. ;) However, the floor pump is a pump out for the basement toilet. Everything else is gravity flow to the sewer. By bigger concern is that the water main comes in through the wall inside.

    Building the Perfect Reloading Room

Here's an idea for folks with a cold storage area. Make it into a vault - steel door, keypad, seal the concrete and you're set! ...and yes, I'm a bit of an OCD perfectionist - but who isn't in the reloading game!?!

6mm ARC loads with Temp Stable Powders

Had a bad run with temp sensitive powder loads and PRS (never leave a mag in the sun, period) and have stuck to temp stable powders for all loadings since. Wondering if anyone has found a sweetspot for their gas gun with Varget, xbr8208, etc. Preliminary testing in my 18" proof give the...

Which would you keep given my current rifles? 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel

Thanks Drew - I'm strongly considering that and you are correct, the Proof is the best shooter, although not by much. The 16”Faxon shoots lights out as well. One issue with keeping both chamberings is keeping all the reloading components for both - unless I choose to shoot factory. Think a...

    6.5 Grendel

Here's my load for 6.5 G - shoots sub MOA in 2 rifles (both Faxon barrels and both about .8 MOA for 5 shot groups with the occasional unicorn group of .4) Hornady Brass CCI 450 124 ELD-M 27.1gr XBR8208 I shot about 50 at 27.7-28.0 grains but as referenced earlier, pressure spikes are sneaky...

Which would you keep given my current rifles? 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel

Heading down the ARC rabbit hole, components for my loads (Varget, CCI450, 105-108s) are the same as 6 Dasher. Hmmmm

    Hiperfire triggers any good?

I switch things around and sell what I don't care for - when something stays around (especially a trigger) on multiple platforms I know it's a keeper. I have what is now the Competition trigger and love it. I've used it for precision, SBR, pcc, and it's now in a 6mm Arc pistol lower that I...

your preferred emphasis on an 18” DMR rifle?

I find that the weight of the optic both follows and determines use for me. If I have a rifle with a lightweight dot or lpvo I often choose that over a longer-barreled rifle with a heavier optic to run a course - both do the job, but one does so more easily and with less fatigue. If the weight...

Need Advice - Ejector Swipes with reloads suppressed, Creedmoor AR10

I'm actually using large rifle primers in these rounds. Using up the remaining Hornady brass. Should be jumping 20 Thousandths based on initial look and COAL at 2.805. I have a wonderful load at 41.0 of h4350 behind a 147 that doesn't show these signs. Ive never shot 123s in my Creedmoor but...

Which would you keep given my current rifles? 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel

If I had a nickel for every time I've looked at a Nemo Omen! Totally get it - bottom line is none of my ARC or Grendel's are shiny objects. They are tools - and they are tools that fill the exact same role. To your point, I may consolidate a bit and use the funds to upgrade optics...
