Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

Same here, I've used a mat but just love being in the dirt more. The way I see it, when I'm out in the back country hunting I ain't gonna be packing a shooting mat with me or even take the time to roll it out before a shot!

Night Vision The Official: Steiner C35 Thermal Clip-on Review and User Thread!

Loved the video and after having mine for a couple months I agree with the assessment. It's a great budget thermal clip on. Biggest downsides to me are only being able to use the lower end magnification range, not having PID capabilities at ranges past 400 or so, and the 1 MOA increments to zero...

For those waiting on the focus throw lever, I took the advice of a post a while back that I can't find now and got a Vortex Defender objective cap O-44 and it fits over the objective perfectly and is tight enough that you can reach up and use the cap itself to move the focus knob.

    Night Vision XLR Element/Tikka/NV Bridge

I've run into this same issue with my XLR and NV hood and Impact action. From calling XLR, the number they gave me is .375" as the height of their pic rail itself. In order to get the closest optical center with my Steiner C35 thermal clip on (which is set for the standard 1.5" rings as most...

Not sure if this helps anyone, and I'm now realizing I should've also recorded the image itself, but here's a video shooting a hot rock at 940 yards at night through the c35. Was probably a 3 MOA sized target give or take, so not super impressive, but it was still so fun to make hits at all at...

The question now is, does changing the focus change the POI? I have to test that, unless you know.

Just turned mine on to confirm and it does have the stadiametric rangefinder feature that's described in the manual.

The manual mentions something about a zoom function but I think earlier in the thread it was confirmed that it's a typo. From my testing the c35 does not have zoom, but the s35 does.

Nice. Speaking of the focus, some guy mentioned to me that when you change the focus on the thermal it also changes the zero. That doesn't make much sense to me, does it actually change the zero when you move the focus knob?

I would definitely be interested if there's a version where the handle isn't so close to the lens, I run mine close up to my objective lens on my day scope and the lever would get in the way.

Agreed. I've never used another thermal so don't really have anything to compare to, but it works really well from 6-10x. At 10x it is pixelated but still usable. I also threw it in front of a friend's LPVO and for sure the clearest image and widest FOV was probably in the 3-4x range, so I would...

Yea I can see the 4 holes there, you have to unlatch the QD lever to get to them I think.

No need for that I think. My mount with the lever had a little bit of play in it even when latched down the whole way, so I unscrewed the base plate and was able to get to the screws for the mount itself (if that makes sense). So maybe unscrew the bottom 4 screws and see if you can get to the...
