    Don’t be a poor coffee!

be careful, I finally received my coffee (very late, thanks USPS) It says on the bag, due to the drying process, small rocks may be present. That will destroy your favorite burr grinder.

Attention Shoppers. Here is where to NOT buy your coffee LINKS TO VOLCANIC COFFEE NOW IN THREAD Stay tuned for some TheGerman related coffee offerings

Placed my order. I am glad you have Chiapas. I used to go to Mexico a lot and always tried to find real coffee. Surprisingly, I found a German, maybe not THE German, that roasted coffee in a corner of one of the centers in Queretaro. Or maybe Aguas Calientas. Regardless, the coffee was...

Maggie’s The Woodchuck and Firewood Hoarders Thread

Had a 32” poplar blow down and it took this pine with it. Only 9” or so across but check out the grain. I stopped counting around 100 rings. The rings that look like a single big ring are really about 10 to 15 rings. It’s at the mill now. Can’t wait to see it 1/4 sawn.

My dad had the vinyl LP. I remember it from when I was a kid. It was the same logo but i think a red album cover. but that was a long time ago. Funny thing is, I asked him 2 weeks ago if he knew where it was. I figured it would be a good listen.

    Maggie’s Battery Power Chainsaw

Got it. I was thinking that the operator has already released the trigger but that’s a wrong assumption since saw accidents happen so fast. Saw pants versus a wide open constant torque electric saw....now I get it. Thanks.

    Maggie’s Battery Power Chainsaw

Is that because the electric saws have more rotating mass? So the inertia of the mass will not let the fibers clog up the chain?

Been looking for an electric as well. Not for forestry but maintenance. I have a 660, 460,028, 170 and an old husky 268. All I need for the big stuff. Still have 800 bdf of old southern pine on the trailer sawed 24” wide and 21’ long. What I have spent all day doing is trying to get rid of...

I really like my 460. It is a work horse but I know the newer ones with the electronic carb or whaterver it is start better. Did you wear out your 460 and the 462 was all that was available for purchase? Or are the newer saws that much better than the old 460's and worth getting a new one?

A friend found some old growth pine down in south Georgia. Tight grains and knot free for 60 feet. I am trying to negotiate a couple of cants out of him. Amazing timber. The other shot is a sweetgum I felled and let rest for 8 months to try to get it to spalt. Looks lik it did OK . this...

    Electric fences

I run 7 strand high tensile to keep the goats in and coyotes out. I run 3 ground rods 8' deep and 8' apart. Preferably in the dripline of the shop roof. keeps the ground wet. That's likely overkill but, ground rods are cheap. just hard to get in the ground. Best thing is a demolition hammer...

    Maggie’s What's Your View II

150,000 on mine and I'm second owner. Had it for 15 years. No leaks and no squeaks. The valve covers have never been removed, thank goodness. I watched the video. I have been a design engineer for the past 25 years for car parts and we have to do problem solving. Whoever figured this out is...
