New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
So many great choices, and I appreciate everyone that chimed in. I do shoot further than 500 yards, so that is the reason for turrets. I should have been more concise in my original post.
Couple good replies about not worrying about 3-4 oz of weight is great advice. I basically have 3-4 new...
Yes I love the Nightforce. Definitely a difference in the glass quality from the NSX line to the ATACR line, and therein is my issue with it. Outside of that, it would be my choice 100%.
Great suggestions everyone, thanks. I really like the Mark 5HD, discounted its a downright steal. But ugh...35MM tube? Not a lot of great choices out there ring wise unless I'm missing something. I'm guessing by the time you factor in the bigger ring weight, you are not saving much if any weight...
I just recieved my new rifle build a couple weeks ago, and I'm looking for some scope advice. The gun is a 7WSM, with Carbon Fiber barrel, and a Manners lightweight stock.
Probably going to see most use as a carry type rifle for hunting Mule deer, Elk, etc. My last Elk hunt I carried my 300WSM...
Where did I say I couldn’t turn the illumination dial with my hand?
I said it took significant effort with my fingers. Which as Patriot pointed out is common with some high end scopes.
The only thing “stupid” here is the fact you have an issue with reading comprehension.
Lol...no kidding. Good old SH. You can always expect a smartass answer to an honest question.
And you are exactly right- I have a couple scopes that the parallax and illumination knobs are stiff. Other SH members posted it was normal so I didn’t worry about it.
Was just checking about this...
Thanks for the reply! My turret and parallax knobs are real easy to spin and it’s definitely disappointing to read there are hiccups on this scope especially with how pleased I was with the glass.
I received my 5-25 PST II last night and finally had some time to play around with it this morning.
Glass looks really nice and reticle etchings are nice and sharp. Turret clicks are a bit soft and it’s almost too easy to rotate the turrets but I can live with it. Illumination knob doesn’t...
This hit at a good time. I'm thinking of getting mine done too.
So far, the only 2 I've seen that would probably do a good job are Phoenix Custom and Short Action Customs.
Any suggestions on getting my fluted PTG bolt redone?
Its currently matte black Cerakote, but I'd like to get it redone with the Microslick version.
Thanks!
If I could get someone to draw up the guns/parts in AutoCAD or Corel...I have a CNC Foam cutter that uses a very high temp wire to cut out whatever shapes I want. Its a 35K machine.
If someone will draw the what they want, I can cut it.
Thanks so much for these videos. I hope you don't mind a couple questions.
Did you use a rangefinder to get your distances? Was there a reason the distances weren't even...say 500 vs 572, 1000 vs 1012 etc?
Thanks in advance.
I just went thru the same thing with my PTG Bolt....maybe you will get luckier than me but they told me 6-8 weeks and it was almost 5 months. Mine had the deep spiral flutes but still....5 months?
Glass is probably one of the biggest things discussed and debated on this board, at least in the short amount of time I've been here.
You might not miss a shot because the glass isn't good enough in a NF...but can't you say the same thing about much lower priced scopes that have proven to track...
