    New Leica 1600B delivered today...

    You have to set it up in the menu. From what I can tell, when you are on an angle, the unit displays linear yardage first, the around 1/2-1 second the corrected yardage appears in the display again. You can check the angle by pressing the red button.

    I am ok with that...I am not going to take a shot at any animal over 700 yards. I bought it for hunting out West. That's good info to know, though. Even at that, as long as I know the inclination I can still plug it into my calculator if I want to plink around at 1000 yard targets.

    I'm looking at a possible purchase on an in-stock custom rifle chambered in .300 WSM. The only thing is, it looks as if the barrel is 23" long. I thought most barrels in this caliber were 26" long.....sometimes 24". So yes, the question is.....is the 23" barrel going to affect long range...

    I called Leupold this morning and they recommended either the 2x-12x-42mm VX6, or the 3x-18x-44mm VX6 if I wanted to go a little bigger. Guy at Leupold said both are compact and relatively low weight. Any opinions?
