    Hornady factory 6GT ammo accuracy

Hornady doesn't make dogshit......but.......their consistency from lot to lot seems terrible as of late. I have firsthand experience Hornady factory 7prc causing issues.......I mean like +60/-60fps ES over 25 shots. And it wasn't just a single extreme outlier each way......it was all over the...

    Hornady factory 6GT ammo accuracy

If memory serves me correctly Impact 737s were out of that small diameter range.......and boatloads of ammo with SRP have been shot with zero issue.......as we all know. Maybe he was talking to a specific lot of Hornady.......hopefully not a blanket statement about all SRP cartridges. Ern

    5/8x24 threads for 22

100% agree. I recommend upsizing your brake on a heavily used (and abused) rifle. I have lost track of how many shooters started having accuracy issues from carbon crusted brakes. Especially used brakes that went on multiple barrel jobs. Now if I can just get those same shooters to clean the...

Accuracy expectations from 6.5 creedmoor chassis

Totally off topic but worth mentioning. For those of us not so app savvy, I find putting clear tape over the area of expected impacts gives you a super clean puncture hole for measuring. Ern

Accuracy expectations from 6.5 creedmoor chassis

Spot on. A shit ton of winning rifles do not shoot tiny groups at 100yds. It is load consistency that wins at distance. Pick a load that has good margin on both sides and get past 100yds. You will get more hits at distance.......shooting a .5moa rifle at distance than a .1moa at 100yds. Also...

    Help: Simple, effective cleaning regimen

Thanks for the kind words, it is much appreciated. A borescope is just another tool in the toolbox. Use it appropriately and drive on. Also, if you are trying to keep bullets centered.....then you need to start with a centered chamber. Ern

Someone set me straight on barrels

If you can drive an ar10 pretty good, I have seen some dogshit barreled ones shoot surprising well. As a matter of fact I ended up with 3 PSA (one 6.5creed and two 308win) and all of them shoot .75 or under with ammo tuned to the rifle........no need to change anything. They all have the makings...

    What Action For a .308

Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes you need to reload to hit that accuracy guarantee. Recent 7prc head scratching caused by Hornady "match grade" ammo......... Ern

Geissele 6 ARC in service with SOCCOM, some hands on comments.

About as amazing as mk262 vs m118lr. In my experience 0-600/700yds......any reseasonable round for longrange shooting is close in trajectory.......extreme outliers excluded. Your 28" 22creedmoor is NOT similar to your 16" 308 gasgun........haha. Sounds like Geissele really put in the work...

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

Everybody knows this industry can be hollywood at times......but for the most part bad companies with poor customer service tend to get outted quickly and disolve even quicker. Glad to hear Impact is taking care of you......first class people and first class products. Ern

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

Sounds like there is a substantial market for lightweight super reliable triggers for rem700 clones. Ern

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

Talking trigger design......any cassette style trigger by nature creates a "container" for debris or gunk. With the recent acceptance of trigger hangers in the tactical community, I would love to see a more precision machined/fitting exposed win70 style trigger assembly. For all you widget...

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

Thanks for the pic. Just wanted to make sure. With it being a lefty, I am wondering if there is indeed a dimension that is off in the hanger, or hanger area of the action. I will look tomorrow and compare some leftys to some rightys. I should at least be able to give you some dimensions to...

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

I hope this doesn't come across as insulting. Can you post a pic of the installed trigger. I have seen people install triggers in Impacts with the hanger upside down that has lead to trigger issues. This might explain two different brand/design triggers having the same issue. Ern

    Questions about my m40a1

Doesn't look like the action has been clipslotted. The stock inlet around the bottom metal looks big compared to the metal.....is it bedded? These are what I catch without seeing the BA out of the stock to see the trigger cut, welded mag box, modified recoil lug, etc. Either way it looks like a...

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

You want to remove material at the cocking piece (opposing surface of the trigger sear)......while holding the original angle on the cocking piece surface. You can get an idea of how much needs to be removed by looking at the cocking piece in relation to the bolt shroud. If the cocking piece...

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

Good point. This would be rem700 and clones with corresponding remington style triggers. Others can have this issue win70s....for example but I don't want to make a sweeping claim. But anytime you are fighting the firing pin spring when closing the bolt on the ramps is not the best solution. Ern

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

For what it is worth. I have noticed on ANY action with a super light trigger, if the cocking piece to trigger sear surfaces are not perfectly "timed" you can get some stiff pressure against the trigger sear as the bolt is climbing the lug seat ramps (while rotating to close) possibly allowing...

    BEWARE OF PROOF PREFITS

I agree that is a high failure rate for a prestigous company. I can't speak to the ammo company but I can say that I witnessed a number of prefit PR barrels from a single order that had the freebore so off-center they wouldn't allow a factory round to seat fully. To PR's credit they apologized...
