    7-08 162 A-Max - 2640 - 39.8g Varget AI 166 A-Tip- 2784 - 42.85g Varget Exact same barrel and action, just rechambered and 1/8th in shorter. I don’t know if that’s good or bad in your eyes, but it’s real data.

    Down range? I now use a 419 Zero and SAC dies. I made as good of ammo on my old Lee breechlock challenger with Lee dies. Most of the performance in reloading is in the method. Better equipment yields more efficiency and smiles.

    Chainsaw: gas vs battery

    I bought a dewalt chainsaw to cut trees from a man lift. I was incredibly impressed. They’re slow compared to a gas saw but it’s a work horse on one battery. Worked all day and only uses the one battery. That includes trimming many trees outside of my scope. Don’t hesitate to buy.

    I was amazed at how tight some of the non bushing standard sizing dies are once I understood the process. No wonder people have issues with necks splitting prematurely.

    In all fairness to the donut on the Redding, it’s a standard .260 Remington while the SAC is 7-08 AI. The shoulder angle could be making the difference, although when I was using the standard 7-08 with a SAC I didn’t have any either. That was just 3 firings per case though.

    I can’t measure the difference between my SAC modular sizing die and my Redding Competition. I can say the SAC has not shown even the beginning of a donut, while the Redding does. Both Lapua brass.

    Describe your definition of “Alpha Glass”

    With few exceptions I tend to agree. I wouldn’t cut and save to buy an alpha scope and I certainly would to buy an action, barrel, or quality reloading components. Saying all that I have zero regrets buying my ZCO.
