New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Since you have nobody to mentor you take the time to read through at least two reloading manuals. Then ask a lot of questions, good ones and dumb ones. Get it all out there.
This is a great little product. Easy install with the most basic mechanical aptitude. Obviously I haven’t put it in use yet, but I like it on the kitchen table. Shooting a match tomorrow, we will see if it makes a difference.
No interference with the throw lever or Tenabrex caps.
I use the ZCO mount on my 527 and have had no issues at all.
I also recently bought the 419 rings for my 22. I don’t know if they’re better but damn these things are nice. Will be buying more of them.
The easiest thing to eliminate is the scope if you have another one. Check all mounts while doing so.
If you don’t pick the rifle up between groups does it still do this? Something is slipping when the rifle is moved and reseating after the first shots recoil.
I believe the 168 A-Max is still available. I found my .308 liked it better than the 178s. It would shoot the 178s but with balls out flat primer load.
I think I would have done better changing powder for the 178s, if you’re going to try 168s stay with Varget.
I think he stated it shoots .75 with factory 143 eldx.
If that’s the case he should run that again now to confirm it’s not a rifle or scope issue. That would quickly eliminate that.
If you’re going from 41.1 to 41.2 and getting that big of a jump in groups it’s not your powder charge. Something else is wrong.
That’s 1.75” to 4” then back down to 1.5” for 41.3. Some peoples scales aren’t even that tight and shoot good groups.
They should, or explain what we’re doing wrong. I don’t see how once you’ve made contact with the shell holder it could be any different from press to press. Contact is contact.
Paging 419
In my simple mind, shell holder to die contact should be the same on any press.
Now, my 419 press with one of my SAC dies does not bump the shoulder with all the shims in and the fattest shell holder spacer from 419. I’m considering taking a few thousandths off the die. The rounds still...
I for one prefer the Diamond over the Special even if you’re running both at #1. My thinking is you’re using the Special at the limit of its range while the Diamond has plenty of adjustments either way.
That thinking is solely based of my knowledge of equipment in an industrial setting. You...
