New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Either product is top tier. Surgeons just flat out work. If we are talking PRS Finale a Surgeon 6.5x47 won. I shot the match too and my action ran flawlessly all year. Hell I currently have multiple Surgeon actions and have sold others to friends who still run them and I've never once had any...
The stock is lighter because it is CF. The button I can't recall anything funky. The action is great, much like the Surgeon's I am more accustomed to and I would pick both before Defiance. Just personal preference as they are all top tier. If I got away from Surgeon actions Impact would be my...
If you leave the scope attached to the action and just pull the BA out of the stock then put it back in it stays zeroed. It's actually quite impressive.
If you ever decide to upgrade do yourself a favor and sell what you have and buy a custom action. They are so much more smooth with less issues than a Remington. As far as brakes go I swapped from APA to Area 419 and I like it better. Use a brake and the longer barrel the better.
If you decide...
Taz, I have switched to the Hellfire for my normal match rifles. If I were to buy a brake for my ELR it would be the Sidewinder but I have no actual experience with one yet.
The match the last two years was won with a Surgeon Rifle Chambered in 300 Norma Mag. Seeing impacts is key. The targets this year were further than last year. I think the closest was 600 something. I didn't shoot it myself, but I did get the info about it from the MD himself and the longest...
1. I didn't and I will never ask to be sponsored. It's just not me. Everyone I represent has approached me. Be a nice person, finish well and sooner or later Karma will catch up to you.
2. Quicker service.
3. Depends on company.
4. Depends on company. Some deals are one off like a brake or a...
Very good advice throughout this thread. In theory it's faster, in reality it's a mute point. I run a 90 degree and I can out run the vast majority of people on timed stages. If you decide to go with a Surgeon I can help answer any questions you may have and get you a discount.
You chew up room in the case where powder can go. Hence, less speed, possibly to the point where the greater speed of a 168 might overtake the BC and lower speed of a 180. Every barrel is different so which is best would really depend on his barrel and his chamber. No doubt a 180 will come out...
I can tell you with a 0.180" FB it puts the base of the bearing surface of a 180 VLD at the neck shoulder junction and you are kissing the lands. This is at 3.030" OAL so too long for a SA.
So I don't see how a 180 Hybrid is going to be perfect with only 0.050" FB. WIth that short of a FB it...
