Gunsmithing Cutting a CHF chrome-lined barrel

@Hippy_Steve @Bantam1 - thanks for the info on Class 3 Machining, I'm going to reach out to Morgan and see if he can do it and what the cost would be. Parker Mountain Machine got back to me and said they'd do it, but their site says 12 week lead time and their price is pretty damn high. I...

Gunsmithing Cutting a CHF chrome-lined barrel

Thanks for the info! My plan is to have a 12.5" SBR that is 100% suppressed and tuned for factory/mil spec brass cased ammo with a non-adjustable gas block. I didn't think it would be too hard to tune being suppressed, I've heard that going down to an 11.5" middy makes things more complicated...

Gunsmithing Cutting a CHF chrome-lined barrel

I'm considering buying a CHF chrome lined AR-15 barrel and chopping it down to 12.5" in order to have a mid length gas system. Both Marvin Pitts at Nefarious arms and Parker Mountain Machine aren't taking any work right now. Does anyone know of any other gunsmith with experience...

The AI AT/AX/AO version is still in production, but at this time there's no plan for an AICS version, sorry.

It's recommended to bond the Vision chassis, but it's not required. Some guys choose not to, OR bond it with release agent and treat it like a typical bedding job. The atx isn't bonded. Regardless, using the vision wouldn't require it to be un-bonded each time, but if you had barrels between...

Ha, yeah the benefit of me shooting LH is that I was forced to make everything ambi on the AO chassis. I actually wanted to design it to have the cutout magwell and use AX mags like the AX and ATX use, but realized that having to make a LH and RH version of the chassis just didn't make...

The AO sits ~1” lower than an AT or AX, which makes a huge difference in stability and recoil management. I don’t have an ATX to measure, but my rough math is it sits 0.2-0.25” lower than the AO. So it is better in that regard, but like others have said in actual use it likely doesn’t matter...

Awesome! I’m a Milwaukee native, and been a member at RCLRC for like 7 or 8 years. Are you planning on shooting any of the WPRC club matches in the area?

Nice lefty setup! As much as I like sage green, I do love a fully blacked out rifle.

@MOUNTIC @trophyhunter Have either of you done a magnum or 223 bolt head on a LH bolt?

Yes, they’re the same and will work on the AO/V chassis.

Group Buys Aftermarket AI "Obsession" Chassis - Group Buy

All you will need is the (2) rear action bolts and the (4) brass washers. The front action bolts are different and are included in the AO/V kit. Mile High should have the parts you need, sorry but I don’t have the part numbers. If you can’t source them from Mile High let me know, I might...

Was this written by ChatGPT or are you just insane?

Correct, you either need the folding stock, or a drill press to put the thru-hole into the non-folding chassis.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I’d love to see a video of how that works whenever you guys get a chance. I think a DOMINUS or DOMINUS-K with a brake would be a perfect competitor to the Maverick 👍🏻
