Pistol Bolt Action .308 - Who has one?

When the Sig Cross exists (and at that price!) I really don't see the point in the pistol .308 builds. In 300 Black, or 9mm, absolutely, but I have a 16" .308 700 pattern and I never wish it was shorter.

Barrett MK22 Kit - now available for Civilian sales

What could be at play is the rule that companies can't sell .mil contract stuff for less than they sell to the .mil. So it could well be that this was about the per unit price that was also supposed to include training, tools, support, etc, that we're not able to receive or capitalize on. Price...

    Rifle Scopes ACOG 1.5 x24 on a M-4 type AR-15

No amount of magnification is good for close quarters/home defense. Even if you train with it a ton, you don't want to spend compute cycles working out magnification in a stressful scenario. Any of the quality 1x optics, like Aimpoints, are going to be a much better option. Throw a 50 yard zero...

    NightHawk or Staccato 2011?

If it was me, I'd find an old double stack ParaOrdnance in .45, put a case or two through it, sell it, and have a much better idea of what I actually wanted. Double stack .45s are HEAVY, crazy heavy, and in reality give up a fair amount in terms of reliability to a Glock 21. You'll never find...

    General purpose 308

Not knowing the kind of hunting you are looking into - if you don't want to mess with it but still have decent options for aftermarket, CTR like others have said. That said, I'd take a hard look at Sig Cross as well. Or Ruger Ranch if you want to keep some money in your pocket.

10/22 Build: Where to spend my money

In your budget you might be able to find a used Kidd floating around. You need to figure out what you want to do with the rifle - do you want it light and handy, or very accurate from a bench? Kidd has barrels to meet either end of the spectrum. I have one of their Ultralights, and the overall...

    Announced KGM Group Buy

How does the R30K compare to the one the FBI just selected?

    New 6ARC

I like the idea of 6mm ARC to get modern features in a small action size with a forever barrel life. I don't think anyone expects it to outperform the rounds that burn a barrel out in ~1400 rounds.

Best stock or chassis under $500??

In that price range you are really only looking at the Bravo. You have to spend a whole lot more to start measurably getting more features than are packed in the Bravo to start with.

Who makes a good .223 Bolt gun ?

I have a .223 built on an ARC Nucleus. Shoots great. I also have a Ruger Ranch in .223 that never gets shot, so... something to be said for the feel of quality.

    Release triggers- why not?

If they were a better option you'd see them in BR - you already have actions that don't have safeties. But my guess is the trigger complication and results aren't enough to warrant it there, and for most other types of shooting the risk measures become way too high.

WTB RRS SC-LR Bipod Arca Clamp

I think they are phasing these out in favor of an update that has a locking detent as well as an adjustable lever. So I'd expect they would be harder to find going forward.

    PVA American rifle company prefits

I have three. They do a good job.

    Sig Cross light primer strikes

Could be you need a few more pounds of firing pin spring. If you have other primers, try those first?

9mm Bolt Action Rifle - Looking for people with experience with the manufacturer (Curtis Tactical)

I have one in 9mm. Waiting for a mod to the extractor. Other interesting observation - even 147 grain 9mm goes supersonic in 16". Hadn't expected that, so the integral could be a must, assuming I can get the feeding 100%. Need to check stock dimensions to see if the integral makes more sense...

    ARC Nucleus

I've had tons of light strikes with my Nuke, on the 16, and on the 18 or 19 I replaced it with. Most were military ammo with harder primers. No issue with FGMM, for example.

    224 Valkyrie vs 220 Thunderbolt

Wait, so in this thread we think you can push 90 grain in a .224 bore at 3000 FPS and get a barrel life more than ~1500 rounds? I'm skeptical. Was some new powder invented that makes this possible?

Best subsonic round out to 200 yards

Subsonic you need to be able to accurately range due to the crazy drop over distance. In terms of what you are describing, I'd probably look at 450 Bushmaster (Ruger Ranch, for example), and handloads. Should be pretty doable to launch ~300+ grain downrange at 1000 FPS. Curtis Tactical will sell...

Best Semi auto 22 pistol as Supressor host?

Best is relative. For most folks, a Ruger MKIV LITE is your "best" bet, and you can throw more money at upgrading certain parts are you go. Great gun, very reliable, excellent host. Price-isn't-a-barrier "best" is going to be a Nelson Custom upper sitting on a high end 1911 frame. Really no...

Advice on a silenced 308 gasser?

I built a 308 years ago, 16", mid or intermediate length. Runs fine with my suppressor on it, but the brass does get dinged... Adjustable gas block isn't necessary, I'd play with your buffer weight, suppressor, and ammo choice first.
