    Shot Show 2020 Thread!!!

I would probably wait. If someone scales up a Sig 277 Fury to a Magnum case size in .338 or .375, it might not take as much squeeze to get that juice.

Budget Setup For Beginner (Need Advice)

I don't know anything about the Ruger Predator. On Savage, I know that barrel swaps are easy and that is probably the biggest accuracy upgrade you can do on a working rifle, the Accu-trigger is pretty nice so you probably won't be tempted to do more than a spring swap or a bit of shimming. The...

Budget Setup For Beginner (Need Advice)

For base and rings, I have recently gone with a Leupold Backcountry rail. It is 7075 aluminum, well machined and reasonably priced. I have heard about some people having luck with cheaper Weaver rails but for an extra $15-20, I think it is money well spent. I'm also trying a set of Vortex...

I really don't know about the popularity but the direct mount titanium rings make it seem that way.

My point is on the budget side they should have two and three lug options at $1,000 or less. For a flagship, Archimedes and a high end flavor of Mausingfield (I don't know which flavor). For boomers, an Archimedes Magnum. It seems like the forces driving the Mausingfield are $$$ light weight...

It's not about Sniper's Hide, it's common sense. Everyone buying a custom rifle should already understand what cold bore shots do. Now I guess some people order a custom rifle like it's Chinese takeout and have a fit when they find out soy sauce contains sodium.

    Arca Swiss/RRS 1.5" dovetail - cheap(er) vs RRS

Yes but I bought direct, right before MDT became involved. It has the same Arca clamp as pictured. I think MPA radiuses the bottom of their rail so the dovetails barely engage.

Ten years ago, I would have said yes. Now I have met several people who could probably say something that dumb in complete sincerity.

    AR10 Stock Recommendation Needed

A budget choice I like is the Strike Industries Viper Modular Fixed Stock. It is very sturdy, has a butt hook and has a monopod accessory available. No adjustable comb and no adjustable LOP but you can install it with different spacers to get close on LOP if you need it long. It looks nice...

    Arca Swiss/RRS 1.5" dovetail - cheap(er) vs RRS

I have a Syke Pod and an MPA chassis. They barely clamp together, I don't trust it but I don't know which is wrong. Tolerance is important.

    Shot Show 2020 Thread!!!

I bought an MDT grip on Black Friday. It looks nice online but it doesn't seem right on my first gen MDT LSS. What did MDT change?

I think he should dust off the 2019 SHOT show Mausingfield and see if he can make it in to a budget two lug CRF action at the Nucleus price point. Add a big Magnum Archimedes that abandons the Remington 700 footprint. Add more flavors of Xylo chassis but try to bring the price back to $1,000...

Budget Setup For Beginner (Need Advice)

I look at the budget kits and while they will reload ammo, usually the choice of scale is not great, the case prep equipment is incomplete and they usually have an on press priming tool. They force you in to one method and corners are cut. It's better to figure out how you want to reload and...

The departure from "just another action company" ARC's new rifle:

I was hoping to see videos of Ted and the ARC booth at SHOT. I guess there is no pre-order this year unless it's the rifle above and they haven't said anything about that.

American Rifle Company New Archimedes Action, New Xylo Chassis, and major Mausingfield revision

Yes, this is still the initial release Xylo we are waiting on. The reason why (in my opinion) is that Ted's Mausingfield revision was not well accepted so he went back to the drawing board on that and changed a lot of the Archimedes too. With that going on and bolt/trigger/scope rail issues...

Ultimatum Precision's upcoming Tikka footprint action

They showed this action in a Tikka inlet KRG Bravo chassis so I bet you would have pretty good luck with that combo. It looks like they had to do some cutting to get the safety lever to clear. I wouldn't be surprised if KRG updated their inlet machining to fit. There are less choices because...

Budget Setup For Beginner (Need Advice)

This is better than the wall of text in your first post. Ok, first let's talk about optics. You can go cheap with a more or less hunting style scope for around $200 and get pretty decent glass that will get you out to 800 yards with some amount of inconvenience. You can step up in to entry...

The departure from "just another action company" ARC's new rifle:

I'm going to make a matching walnut cheek piece for mine. The butt needs more wood. The forend does not. I think it is going to look better with a nice scope on it and a long straight taper barrel rather than a hunting profile. I think the bipod kind of spoils the lines. I see this more as...
